Book Reviews of Mysteria

This was a really cute book. It is a collection of four short stories written by four different authors that are connected. The stories are set in Mysteria CO a town where vampires and werewolves live openly and every type of creature is welcome. It was pure fluff but it was good fluff. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a light read. It gets a 5 out of 5.

This book is really cute. It's like a paranormal desperate housewives.

Susan Grant's "Mortal in Mysteria" started out a little different and almost put me off. It did change tune quite quickly and turned out to be every girl's wish come true. Quite good for her first story.

MaryJanice Davidson's "Alone Wolf" was not that appealing. It was like it was tossed together quickly. I'm not sure if this will lead to her new book "Sleeping with Fishes" or not but it does have some of those elements in it.

Gena Showalter's "Witches of Mysteria and The Dead Who Love Them" is adorable. It's funny to see just what 3 sisters can get themselves into in a town of strange people. I liked this one considerably.

P.C. Cast's "Candy Cox and The Big Bad Werewolf" is another cute screwed up paranormal romance. This story had me chuckling.

All in all, I have to say you will enjoy this book. The first two stories are a little slower reading than the last two but they all tie in with each other. What a weird town. If you haven't heard of a demon or some other outlandish creature then just go to Mysteria!

Overall, a good collection of stories.
My favorite was the first one, "Mortal in Mysteria," by Susan Grant. It's a fully-realized story, and the main cast was kept to a reasonable size so that the characters could be well fleshed-out.
The second story in the collection, "Alone Wolf," by MaryJanice Davidson, was my least favorite. It appears that this is a short story that falls within a larger framework - i.e. it is part of a larger series or storyline, and thus relies on knowledge of that framework for the story to work. As this was the first thing I'd read by Davidson, the whole story kind of fell flat for me.
The remaining two stories ("The Witches of Mysteria and the Dead Who Love Them," by Gena Showalter and "Candy Cox and the Big Bad (Were)Wolf," by P.C. Cast) are somewhat intertwined, borrowing characters from one another. So, these should be read together. I enjoyed both of them, but I didn't find either of them to be spectacular.

I really enjoyed this book. The idea—a town created as a haven for supernatural beings by a demon who suddenly wants to do good, is a wonderful idea. All of the storied take place in Mysteria and are intermingled enough to keep them interesting. The first story tells the tale of Damon, the demon who created Mysteria and then was punished by Satan by being turned into a mortal man and being banished to Mysteria. All of the stories are romances with just a little bit of paranormal thrown in. My least favorite story was the one by MJD. It was very disjointed and a bit odd. But overall, all 4 stories were fun to read and I definitely look forward to more stories from Mysteria.

These are 4 really great stories all intertwined together. They are funny and sexy w/alot of antics & very different demons, vamps, fairies, etc. You will be laughing out loud. Hope these girls get together again soon for more.

All four stories are enjoyable and have solid story lines- that happen to include some romance.
I really enjoyed this book.

Overall, this was a decent book for some reading.

"Mortal in Myssteria" by Susan Grant was my least favorite. It started good but I felt the ending was rushed almost.

"Alone Wolf" by MaryJanice Davidson was almost a tie-in with her Wynham Werewolves series that I have enjoyed. I almost wanted more with the rest of the pack to help pick up the speed of those one. I realized after reading this and looking at the previous reviews that this almost may tye in with 'Sleeping with the Fishes" I have not read any of that series yet but I did decided to put it on my need to be read list.

"Witches of Mysteria" by Gena showalter's was interesting and tyed in with the next short read with PC Cast. I definately wanted more stories to read of the sisters. I hope there is more stories from them. I do believe these three have more to tell.

"Candy Cox and the Big Bad Werewolf" by PC Cast was almost linked wtih Gena Showalter's witches. I was glad to see the character's from the previous story make an appearance. It was nice easy read that gave a few laughs.

All in all, this was nice set that filled the time. I hope to see more of the Mysteria's population to see what happened to some of the character's lives.

Overall I enjoyed this book.

Susan Grant: I really enjoyed this story and it was cute how Damon wanted to help out Harmony by bringing people to her church. It was funny when Harmony's family comes and the antics that go on when sitting down to dinner with unexpected guests ruining a nice dinner.

MaryJanice Davidson: I do not know what it is about this author, but NONE of her novellas/novels keep me interested. I found it hard to continue to keep reading as my mind tended to wander. Her characters (Char and Cole) were uninspiring and after the first real chapter, I was ready for the story to be finished.

Gena Showalter: I enjoyed this story. I enjoyed Glory's story better in "Mysteria Lane", but overall it was okay. I wanted to shake Evie for continually chasing after Hunter as I would have given up a long time ago.

P.C. Cast: I loved the whole older woman, younger, hot man. I thought Justin was perfect for Candy and I loved how he wanted to give up everything that he was for her. And he was satisfied with such a hot mama!

Sexy fun read.

Four stories of paranormal romance, set in Mysteria, Colorado, a town which had been accidentally founded by a random act of demonic kindness. The tales of seduction include "Alone Wolf" by MaryJanice Davidson,"Mortal in Mysteria" by Susan Grant,"Candy Cox and the Big Bad (Were)wolf" by P C Cast, and "The Witches of Mysteria and the Dead Who Love them" by Gena Showalter. Although they are all sexy, the tales are an uneven mix, in spite of the connecting location and theme.

I really enjoyed this book, all the stories were like a mixture of Janet Evanovich meets Charlaine Harris and met with Sue Grafton and had a party...the mixture of supernatural, romance, and humor was very pleasurable. Serious literature? No, of course not, just plain fun and guilty pleasure....absolutely. The book was fine, fun and provided excellent "bathroom" reading. I would definitely start reading some of these authors solo novels now, I had not heard of them before this. Collaborations don't always fit as well as these stories did.

I bought this book to read the Davidson story, but ended up really liking the other contributions, especially Susan Grants and started reading her books.

An excellent read.

Four stories that are unique, funny, mysterious and sexy.

Four cute short stories about the (strange) residents of Mysteria.

The cover sums it up - "Meet the women of Mysteria - and the creatures they fall more - in four all-new stories of paranormal passion".

I'm more of a strictly vampire or faerie novel person myself, so I wasn't too keen on this book. It is however right up the alley for anyone that enjoys a book with an eclectic mix of the paranormal and romance.

I thouroughly enjoyed this anthology.

GREAT!! All of these stories were great! Some folks may have not liked this novel, but it's a great book!

I personally had mixed feelings over this book a couple of the novellas were great and the other two were not You would really have to decide by personal taste really.

Great read

A touch of sci-fi and fantasy as opposed to straight romance. A little more "R" rated than most.

Very quick and relaxing read. Funny with a smidge of seriousness.

After reading the other reviews, I'm glad someone else enjoyed this book. I found it trite, one-dimentional, and just plain boring.

Great book and very very funny!!!

This is an anthology of 4 authors about a place called Mysteria. The authors are MaryJanice Davidson, Susan Grant, P.C. Cast, and Gena Showalter. Mysteria is a place that accepts anyone even if you grow fur at the moon, have witchy powers, become a downcast/upcast demon, or have no powers at all. Mysteria is the place to live.

Fun group of stories. Each one is a good as the last.

These short stories are expansions on a few of the stories in the Bewitched, Bothered and Bevampyred anthology. Not much has changed or really been expanded on in my opinon. Sure the name of the town changed but that's really about all. This is what P.C. Cast had to say about it on amazon.

It was inspired by characters we created for the charity collection, Bewitched, Bothered and Bevampyred. We loved our characters so much that we wanted to expand and tell their full stories, which is what we did. We're proud that Mysteria grew out of the charity collection - and we had a lot of fun expanding...changing...telling their stories in our novellas.
