Good book!
The beginning of this story wasn't all that happy, but things really started to pick up around half way through. I don't want to say too much that wasn't mentioned in the synopsis and risk giving things away, but once passed the midway mark I just wanted to read the rest of the book through in one sitting!
I noticed some similarities between the main character in this book and the one in Tell No One (the only other Coben book I've read), and I wonder if that's common to most of Coben's books. There was also a very brief appearance in this story by a character from Tell No One, which was kind of fun. If you read them both, maybe you'll spot her too!

I just finished this book and I feel like I've gone on a hell of a roller coaster ride without even leaving home. WOW! This book was absolutely incredible! Every time I thought I had it figured out, Coben came up with another twist to make me question my theories or spin them into nothing but complete chaos. The man is absolutely genius when it comes to thinking up plot twists and turns to keeping the reader second-guessing.
If you like a book that will keep you guessing all the way to the very last page, then run - don't walk - to your nearest library or book store and get your hands on this book! If you want something a little more sedate and bland, then you may wish to just leave this book alone because once you start reading, you won't be able to stop -- just like when you strap in to a real roller coaster ride.

I hated, hated this book while reading it. Did not like the direction it was going, too many characters to keep track of, very few characters with redeeming qualities....etc. However, the ending took care of all that. Read with care. Enjoy.

This is the second Harlan Coben book I have read. I previously read "No Second Chance" and I couldn't put it down, so I was looking forward to reading his other novels. I picked this one up next. I started out slightly disappointed. I thought the first half of the book was a little bit slow and I wasn't really getting into it. I just couldn't see where the story was leading to. However, the second half of the book contained lots of twists and turns and exciting moments and I couldn't put it down - I just had to see what was going to happen next. The ending really threw me for a loop, and I think that, ultimately, the story came together very well.
I would definitely recommend this book to mystery/suspense fans, and I would encourage anyone to give the book a chance, even if you don't find the first part to be very intriguing. It gets better - I promise. I will definitely be reading more Harlan Coben in the future.

I couldn' put this one down---unexpected twists and turns all over the place, but logical when you look back on it. Heavy duty suspense, with characters you care about.
From back cover: As a boy, Will Klein had a hero; his older brother, Ken. Then, on a warm suburban night in the Kleins' affluent New Jersey neighborhood, a young woman--a girl Will had once loved--was found brutally murdered in her family's basement. The prime suspect: Ken Klein. With the evidence against him overwhelming, Ken simply vanished. And when his shattered family never heard from Ken again, they were sure he was gone for good.
Now eleven years have passed. Will has found proof that Ken is alive. And this is just the first in a series of stunning revelations as Will is forced to confront startling truths about his brother, and even himself. As a violent mystery unwinds around him, Will knows he must press his serach all the way to the end. Because the most powerful surprises are yet to come.

I read this book in two sittings. Then I thought about it as I was going to sleep, and I thought about it some more when I woke up the next morning. There are so many twists and turns to the plot that even though all is explained by the end, it still took more time to fully digest everything that had happened and the way the characters lives had intertwined. This is a highly suspenseful read, and a very intelligent thriller. Coben is fast becoming one of my favorite mystery authors.

Thrilling suspense mystery with tons of twists.
Great read - Coben's surprising twists are all over this book.
"The ugliest truth, in the end, was still better than the prettiest of lies." So says Will Klein, whose search for his missing and allegedly murderous brother, Ken, leaves him doubting the actions of everybody he's ever loved.
Eleven years ago, Ken fled his family's suburban New Jersey neighborhood after Will's ex-girlfriend, Julie Miller, was raped and strangled. The Kleins eventually convinced themselves that Ken perished on the lam. But as Will discovers, the facts are not so simple. On her deathbed, his mother tells him that Ken is still alive. Then Will's girlfriend and "soul mate" disappears too, only to have her fingerprints turn up at a New Mexico homicide scene. How are these tragedies connected? And what's their relationship to the recent appearance of a contract killer known as the Ghost? With help from an abused ex-hooker, a former white supremacist turned yoga guru, and Julie's younger sister, Will finds himself in a tightly twisted plot that turns on double identities and misplaced trust and that forces him to dig for the courage he was always sure he lacked.
