Time for more adventures of the small creature variety. Another good book in the Redwall series, and it was nice to be set primarily away from Redwall. With the primary conflict located at Salamandastron instead of the Abbey, it put a different twist on the story. In addition, I've always enjoyed reading about the mysterious Badger Lords and their amusing hare fighters. Perhaps its my Wisconsin education showing through, but the Badgers are really quite intriguing. I also enjoy reading about new geography, although I fear that the spread in geography might might the lengths of journeys in different books slighting inconsistent. Not that it matters all that much. Each book can stand on its own, but I really enjoy the overarching history of this world and its inhabitants. As I keep reading, each book provides a bit more of that history, and it entices me to continue reading.

My favorite Redwall book

In the woods and mountains of Redwall, the badgers and mice and moles lived in peace. Until one day, a weasel assassin came to change their world forever.

Redwall is both a credible and an ingratiating place, one to which readers will doubtless cheerfully return.

Wonderful tale of animals fighting for good and freedom. Tells the tale of Badger Lords.

Salamandastron is the fifth book of the Redwall series, "in the tradition of WAtership Down". This tale of heroic bravery, war and treachery is brought to life by animated animals as protagonists. It isn't your typical animal story, though. The animals may sound cute, but they are all well-rounded and have their own distincts dialects. Makes for great reading-aloud!

part of a GREAT series by mr. brian jaques; especially intriguing if one is into stories from animal points-of-view.

This novel is a timless tale of knights and battles set in a fantasy world. Brian Jacques masters the art of personification in his Redwall books. Any self-declared fantasy lover should read through the REdwall series. It is an easy read and I would recommend it for 10 to 12 year old children or adults ho still love brave heros and evil villains.
