I have always loved this author and eagerly read anything he writes. But I truly think he has outdone himself with this book. I could not put it down. I have read many political thrillers, international intrigue and horror novels, I have never been frightened of what could be happening in our world until I read this book. When thinking of some of the things going on in the world today the premise in this book is truly horrifying. If there are truly PM firms in the United States and elsewhere, as Mr. Baldacci tells us in his Author's Note, then it shakes the foundation of everything we read on the Internet and everything we hear on the news. This book is a MUST read.

This book brought up some very interesting concepts. I will never look at a news story quite the same way again.

Baldacci spins a story that could easily happen in today's world. An international industrial-defense contractor needs a war to stay in business. That simple. Nicholas Creel would stop at nothing to have this war including assassinations, false flag operations, etc. He has Shaw to do his bidding. Katie James, journalist, needs a good story to get her credibility resurrected. All of these factors give rise to a fast-paced, violent and greed-oriented tale. Absolutely one of Baldacci's best!
This is a great story. What is really scarier though is the paragraph on the next page after the ending of the story. To think that people do these things that are the theme of this book. "Perception Management"

Another one of Baldacci's great stories - held my interest to the bitter end.
Had a hard time putting it down.

This is an interesting story that like many of David Baldacci, it makes you wonder about our world, government, and the people around us. Do we really know them?
