Book Reviews of The Camel Club

It was difficult for me to get into the book for the first half of it. Too many characters for me to keep track of and I almost stopped reading it but was glad I didn't! Turned out to be a lot more interesting with a great ending!

I started this book and didn't immediately get 'into' it. After about 50 pages, I was starting to get discouraged because it seemed kind of slow, and not typical of Baldacci (who had become one of my favorite authors). So I came here to PBS and read some of the reviews. And am I glad I did! In their reviews, many people stated that the book has a slow start - there are so many different characters to 'meet', etc. The reviews all went on to say that their patience paid off big time, and I couldn't agree more. Once the 'introductions' are out of the way, the book takes off at breakneck speed and it's impossible to put it down. Baldacci is a great storyteller, and like the others, I guarantee that you won't be sorry that you persevered through the first few chapters.

The brilliance of Mr. Baldacci is that no matter how "far out" his characters are, they're always so doggone believable. That's truly a scary thought, isn't it? The situation created in this novel could easily show up on the front page of tomorrows' newspaper or Katie Courics' evening, network report. We all know that there are loads of conspiracy theorists "out there". Well, Mr. Baldacci seems to realize that even if you are paranoid - they still might be out to get you! The gentlemen of "the club" (and now one lady, also) are people you and I might meet somewhere in our very ordinary lives. Keep your eyes open - you just never know! This novel kept me enthralled from the very first sentence - I really wish I could know these guys. Watchdogs and heros all! I'm looking forward to a sequel because I'm not ready to turn away from my new um....novel...friends!

Excellent book about a group of men who formed the Camel Club to do justice.

Husband loved it. He has read all of David Baldacci's books and hasn't been disappointed yet. A must read for all David Baldacci fans.

Slow to start, but once in, you cannot put it down. Seems to have more detail than necessary in certain areas.

One of Baldacci's best.

It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after I did, it really was a good one.

This book was so well written with it's multitude of characters with each of them having their own very distinct characteristics. The story caught me right from the beginning and had me turning pages right up to the very end. What a wonderful reading experience.

I love it when the good guys are smarter than the bad guys!

Baldacci's usual fast paced mystery.

Almost gave up on this one, started slow (can't believe he'd write a dud) once it got going it was great! Another winner can't wait to see what's next!

I love the characters in David Baldacci's books. The Camel Club always keeps me entertained and on the edge of my seat.

Intriguing book, well-written with really good characters. Involves a high-ranking government plot dealing with US & Middle East relations and a group of civilian conspiracy-theorists trying to find the truth. Plot has lots of neat twists.

4 eccentric and downtrodden members of the Camel club, whose goal is to find the truth behind their country's actions happen to witness a murder and get slammed into a plot that threatens the security of the nation. Baldacci never dissapoints...

Fast paced and exciting!!

Baldacci never disappoints. This one is a tour de force of conspiracy theories and D.C. political secrets. The "mystery" was easy to guess, but the wild ride was worth it.

Kept me riveted from beginning to end!

Good Baldacci conspiracy set in Washington, crossing lines of homeless people with secret service agents.

A little slow at the start but then couldn't put it down.

not one of his best and sometimes a little confusing.

I had a real hard time getting into this book. I was halfway through it and was finally starting to make a little sense of it. Too many politcal details for me. Once it got past the halfway mark, I thought it got better. Not as easy to read as his others.

"David Baldacci paints a frighteningly vivid portrait of a world that could be our own very soon." This is so true! Story is very timely and really makes you think about the current world situation.

Not a series I've read before - very plausible in a Washington DC sort of way. Lots of great compartmentalized rhetoric so you know what side everyone is on and why. A very nice read.

A good read with some interesting characters.

All books by David Baldacci are good. Suspenseful and never boring.Camel Club is comprised of a bunch of ragtag men who are into conspiracy theories. They decide to have one of their usual pow-wows when they witness a murder.
