Workaholic Dallas TV reporter Tiel McCoy thought she would take a well-earned vacation, but while driving to a secluded condo in New Mexico, she hears a radio report that changes her plans. Teenager Sabra Dendy, only daughter of Fort Worth multimillionaire Russ Dendy, has been kidnapped. Soon Tiel learns that Sabra, who's pregnant, has run away with her boyfriend, Ronnie Davison. Smelling a story, Tiel heads for the remote town of Hera to interview Ronnie's father, thinking the couple might go there for help. But when she stops at a convenience store for directions, Tiel encounters Ronnie and Sabra bungling a hold-up attempt. As Sabra goes into labor, Ronnie takes everyone in the store hostage, and Tiel and a handsome cowboy who seems to know a lot about medicine deliver Sabra's daughter. Tiel learns that the desperate young couple are fleeing to Mexico to escape Sabra's dictatorial father, who has vowed to separate them and put their baby up for adoption. A TV reporter goes on vacation and ends up in the middle of a story. Tiel stops at a convenience store for a pottie break and snacks and ends up as a hostage. the dangerous drama has a profound effect on the hostages and Tiel's career.

Fast moving plot, grabs your attention & holds it right up to the end. Action, suspense, & sex. What more could you ask? Hard to put it down. First book by Sandra Brown that I have read, but definately not my last.

As this book states on its back cover, "Nearly impossible to put down...a gripping, effective page turner." It was great to discover that Sandra Brown writes not only wonderful romance stories but intelligent suspense stories, too. You want to read this book!

I enjoy reading all of Sandra Brown books. This book was fast reading and kept me in suspence till the end.

great little story for a short read. Action from start to finish

TV reporter, Tiel McCoy, is in New Mexico at a convenience store, when two young lovers hold her and the other patrons hostage, and the young teen is pregnant with her boyfriend's baby.

Excellent read, suspensful and fun!

enjoyable book

Enjoyable story of a Dallas TV reporter while she is on vacation and the perils of being caught in a tiny crossroads convenience store in West TX.
