I saw the movie, which I liked a lot, then I read the book and I couldn't believe how much more there is to the story that wasn't included in the movie. This was the first book that ever made me cry! Just a wonderfully beautiful, romantic, and poignant story. Each of us should be so lucky to experience love like this in our lifetimes.

At 31 Noah Chalhoun, back in coastal North Carolina after WWII is haunted by images of the girl he lost more than a decade earlier. At 29, socialite Allie Nelson is about to marry a wealthy lawyer, but she cannot stop thinking about the boy who long ago stole her heart. Thus begins the story of a love so enuring and deep it can turn tragey into triumph, and may even have the power to creat a miracle.

Like all his books, good but sappy. I find I can read his books once, but not twice.

The beauty of this touching love story ,from the mans prospective,will captivate the heart of every reader. Sparks is a gifted writer.This book is more that a story, it is an experience to remember.

This is ths best book that I have read. It is a must read and then watch the movie.

This book was so hard for me to finish. I would have to say this is one time I loved the movie more.

This is my first book of Nicholas Sparks I've read and I loved it! It's a love story based on his wife's grandparents' love they shared for each other and also about Alzheimer's disease and its effects. Hard to put down...read it in only a few days.

This love story is so touching, it'll leave you tearing up quite a lot! I've seen the movie version, it's good ... quite good, but really ... the book is even better. I'm a sucker for a good love story!

The movie was really good, but the books goes into so much more that it is fantastic. If this book does not make you cry, you probably aren't still breathing.

I really just didn't like it. I have never seen the movie. It was overly idealistic and the characters were cheesy and one dimensional. I know I know I know.. soo many people adore this book and author. I just don't get it. I will read one more of his books to see if this story just wasn't for me.

This is a wonderful love story. But, if you have already seen the movie, then the book won't grab you the same way. You have to be able to read this, without knowing how it ends. So, read this before you watch the movie.

Swoon city. Even if you saw the movie first, this is still a good read. You'll love this movie if you ever felt you missed out on a good one..... If you can relate to the story, you will no doubt need tissues.

THE NOTEBOOK is the romance novel of this generation!

Ali and Noah are two very different people, or characters, depending on how you think about it. Ali is from a wealthy family that thinks very highly of themselves, and Noah was raised by his father and has had to work for every penny he has. Which is not much. The characters come alive and it is almost like you personally know both of them. It's amazing! Ali takes a vacation to New Bern where Noah lives. As the summer progresses, their relationship grows stronger and stronger and they fall in love. They fight all the time, but for some crazy reason they are madly in love.

Then the summer ends.

Noah and Ali are devastated that she has to leave. Her parents won't let her stay because they think that she is too good for him. It's absolutely devastating. He writes her letters, which she never receives because her mother intercepts and keeps them. She thinks that Noah has forgotten her.

Then World War II begins.

Noah is deployed for a couple of years and comes home when the war is over. During this time, Ali gets engaged to Lon, a lawyer who her parents approve of because he is socially acceptable. Noah buys an old plantation and fixes it up, and he and the house wind up in the newspaper. So Ali decides that she needs to go see Noah before she gets married, even though she hasn't seen him in fourteen years. At their reunion, they realize that they never fell out of love.

A different book from Patterson!

A quick, easy read, romantic and fun.

believe this was the first book Nicholas Sparks wrote. By far the best of his books. It is a very tender love story about a love that lasts through many years. I wept at the end. Lovely story.

Noah Calhoun was a young man in love, who got his heart stolen by Allie Hamilton. Even though the love they both shared couldn't last forever, Noah tried everything he could to keep Allie his. Many things came across them that made it hard for them to continue loving each other. Allie had to move away and they both found new people they both loved. Both of their lives changes a lot, but nothing can separate the love they both have for each other. Will the share the rest of their lives together? Or will Noah and Allie not get back together? You will just have to read the book to find out.

This is one of my favorite books. I have read all of Nicholas Sparks' books. I hope someone else will enjoy this book as much as I did.

This was the first book I had read from Nicholas Sparks. I had read it even before the movie came out and this book brought me to tears. It was one of the greatest love stories I've ever read.

This is a wonderful book. I started it last night and didn't put it down until I was done. It's a very easy read and a definite recommended read whether you've seen the movie or not. The book and movie are similar. As much as I loved the movie, it's one of my favorites, I think the book is even better. Keep a box of tissues nearby.

Absolutely Awesome! This was the first Nicholas Sparks book I read and I knew instantly he was someone I would follow for a long time. Heart warming, easy reading, beautiful story. I loved it!

It is such a great read I loveed this book and am not a huge fan of romance. it is so beautifully written.

This is a really good love story about a guy named Noah and a girl name Allie. They both come from very different backgrounds one from a wealthy family and the other from a poor family.

They meet and fall in love but there is some opposition from Allie's family, and their love is tested when Allie's family moves away.

I won't give the ending away but the book was very good, and the movie was pretty good too.

One of my favorites.
