Katie Wilkinson has found the man of her dreams. One day he disappears from her life, leaving only a diary for her to read. This diary is a love letter from a young mother to her infant son. The more Katie reads, the more she realizes that Matt, her boyfriend, is the husband and father in this young family.
Good love story with all kinds of twists and turns.

Katie Wilkinson has finally found her perfect man...He's everything she's imagined she wanted. But one day, he unexpectedly disappears from her life leaving her only a diary to read.
This diary is a love letter written by a new mother, Suzanne. As Katie reads the diary, she realizes that the man who just left her is the husband and father. She reads on, struggling to understand what has happened, and to find out if her new love has any hope of surviving.

Wonderful book but don't read it without a tissue handy!

If you're looking for typical James Patterson fare, keep looking. When I read this book I was amazed that it was written by the same James Patterson who writes the books of mystery, intrigue, murder, and crime... How someone can transition from that genre to this is mind boggling to me. He's truly just a gifted author to be able to write so well in both genres.
This is just the sweetest story... Well, actually bittersweet. If you can get through this without feeling some tugs at your heartstrings, well then, I think just a tiny piece of your soul might be missing.
If you like this book, you'll like Sam's Letters to Jennifer, also by Patterson. It's sort of like a Nicholas Sparks novel, only (in my own opinion) better written, (and I like a good Nicholas Sparks every so often).
You know, I just listed Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas and Sam's Letters to Jennifer on my PBS booklist, but I think I need to read then both again before someone requests them.

Loved it! It's a fast read - I started and finished on a flight from Chicago to Fresno - I turned to my husband at the end and, bawling, told him I loved him and gave him a big hug!!!

This is a sweet little story with no bad guys. It's all about love. I read this book in one day: every time I put it down, I couldn't wait to pick it back up again. Probably everyone in the world read it before I did, because it was a NY Times number one best seller.

A sweet book. After reading all the reviews, I expected a real tearjerker. It was predictable to me. Not the great love story that I thought it would be. One of the main reasons I read it was I wanted to see the movie, so I figured I would read it first. Now I'm not sure I want to see the movie. Just didn't move me like I had hoped.

When I picked it up, I thought I would love it. Didn't. For some reason I just couldn't connect. Usually I'm a sucker for weepy love stories. I only read the beginning and then jumped to the end to see if my guess was right. It was. I very rarely give up on a book. To be fair, maybe I just didn't read far enough into the story to get caught up in it. But the beginning irritated me for some reason.

This is one of the most emotionally moving books that I have ever read in my entire life. I literally sat with tears rolling down my face while I clutched the book to my chest for at least ten minutes before I could gather myself together enough to continue with reading the story. Absolutely superb!

Katie Wilkinson has found her perfect man at last. He's a writer, an original thinker-everything she's imagined she wanted in a partner. But one day without explination, he disappears from her life, leaving behind a diary for her to read.
This diary is a love letter written by a new mother named Suzanne. In it she pours out her heart about how she and her child's father had met, about her hopes for marriage and family, and about the unparalleled joy that having a baby has brought into her life. As Katie reads this touching document, it becomes clear that the lover who has just left her is the husband and father in this young family. She reads on, filled with terror and hope, as she struggles to understand what has happened-and wether her new love has a prayer of surviving.

Oh goodness...I requested this book quite some time ago, but kept putting off reading it (had other books I became interested in)...well...I started it around 10:30 this morning and was done by 3:15!!!!!!! I sobbed, laughed and smiled throughout the entire thing. I'm not much of a "sappy reader", but this one was just plain touching.
I absolutely loved this book although I've never cried so hard reading one. Beautifully written, don't we all wish we could find this kind of love even once. I adore my husband and hope that we find our love to be forever as this one is.

Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas. Heart wrenching, beautiful story with an ending I wanted and got. A story of love, loss and love again....my kind of escape.
Highly recommend this one.
James Patterson was obviously having an identity crisis when he wrote this book....as in confusing himself with Nicholas Sparks.
It's not a bad book, but it's not what you expect from James Patterson, either.
If you are a Sparks fan, you will enjoy this story - "twist" at the end and all.

SLOW SLOW SLOW
Of the summer reads I had this year, this book was in the bottom as far as character interest. Perhaps I'm not a romantic anymore or I'm just an old 42 yr old looking for someone I can identify with. Didn't happen here

Great book! I had already read this book, so I reordered the book for my mom to read. She loved this book as well. I did read it again while I had the book at home..*smile
This was an awesome book. It is also a fast read one I could not put down.
A bit too sappy for me. A LOT too sappy for me! Totally unrealistic story. But a quick read.

It sounds intriguing, maybe I'll read it before someone requests it. This book was passed on to me by a friend. Her response to it was lukewarm. It was given to her by her daughter. She really didn't care for it.
