Very good diet. I love getting 1 reward meal per day. And it's much easier than the Atkins diet.

My husband tried it. It worked but ...it is hard to maintain for long periods of time.

This diet really works!
I have called myself a carb addict for years (since the day a food diary showed french toast for breakfast, garlic bread for lunch, and pizza for dinner) I got this bok in a deal just to check it out and was blown away by the information in it. I read the first 200 pages of stories and guidelines in two days and am now on the second day of the first diet I've ever been on in my life. It's early, but the book s thought provoking and I'm going to give it a good try! There's a test inside (19 yes or no questions) to help decide if this is the lifestyle choice for you. No down side to giving it a read (but you can't have my copy! :)

Written by Drs. Rachail and Richard Heller on the premise that consuming carbohydrates is an addiction that leads to cravings for foods which leads to weight problems, and health problems.
Another concept in losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight. May have been written by others, with just a different angle. Healthy information.
Quite nice to have a book that talks about the problems of diets.

This is a great book for those who have been frustrated with dieting. I struggled with low-fat diets and gained weight! This book helped me to find pitfalls in my eating habits.
Diet seems a little too tough for me...I do aerobic weight training and I don't think that I could do the diet and that at the same time. It is a brilliant idea that I was able to use to design my own diet and am having great success.

I've lost 40 pounds and couldn't be happier. It wasn't difficult to do after the first week.
If you've been a yo-yo dieter for years or if you can eat a pound of pasta at one sitting, this book may very well be an eye opener. In simple--but never condescending--language, it explains the roots of carbohydrate cravings and teaches you how to normalize your insulin levels to prevent future food binges. Regulated insulin levels in turn help to temper serotonin levels, so food cravings and mood swings are prevented. The authors, both research scientists (one a health psychologist, the other a pathologist), have lost and kept off a total of 200 pounds between them. They've based this book on nearly a decade's worth of research, during which they've helped nearly 80 percent of their patients lose weight and keep it off for at least a year.

They explain that carbohydrate addicts most commonly crave popcorn, breads, bagels, rice, pasta, potatoes, ice cream, chocolate, pie, cookies, crackers, cake, fruit and fruit juice, potato chips, and pretzels. A questionnaire at the beginning of the book determines if you're indeed a carbohydrate addict, and if so, to what extent. (For those readers whose quiz doesn't indicate addiction, but who are bothered by their food cravings, the authors recommend a doctor's visit for an explanation.) The book includes a diet plan with dozens of easy recipes, a chart of the carbohydrate content of many common foods, and lists of binge triggers to watch for. The most appealing part of the diet--and one reason that it wins raves from its followers--is its once-a-day reward meal, which allows you to eat anything you want. The authors also offer helpful tips for incorporating the diet away from home, such as at parties and restaurants.
The lifetime solution to yo-yo dieting.

Some spinal wear but otherwise in very good condition. Definitely an alternative diet (it\'s fairly sane!) to some of the nuttier ones out there right now.
Great reference for those attempting a low-carb diet.
