Really enjoyed this book. Just getting back into reading now that my kids are 2 and 4 years old and I could relate to so much in these stories. Never lost focus or interest and was sorry when it ended!

This book drew me in from the first chapter... I really enjoyed it! I don't have kids, so I don't agree that you need to in order to love this book. The characters are loveable, flaws and all and J.W. manages to develop their characters and lives without going overboard and making you feel bogged down in the details.

I really enjoyed this book. Great friendship, mother and wife relationships. I thought the auther kept me intrigued, while not bogging down to much in the stories.

Not what I expected, but very good. The book has little twists and turns in the plot and it was hard to put down. Not Chick Lit where every one is single and dating, but more grown up. These are smart married women dealing with love, sex, and child birth and babies. Plus jobs, losses and life. Something that really spoke to me, as I am beyond the "sex in the city" life style and this book is like that too.

I loved this book. I read in two days. My sister-in-law read it right after I did and she finished it in two days as well. Could not put it down. Definetly two thumbs up from me on this one! I actually wished it was longer. I'm not a mother and I still loved the book.

Not my favorite book by her. This one is not so universal: You kind of have to be a mother to appreciate its nuances. I'm not so I didn't find it very compelling.

Wonderful! A really honest, funny story about unlikely girlfriends and their husbands and families. Characters are easy to relate to and sweep you along with them. I absolutely recommend this book!

This is, by far, my favorite of Weiner's books so far. The group of friends was so real to me that I felt like I was right there with them, going through the same growing pains.

This should be REQUIRED reading for women thinking about getting pregnant. This book is fun but tells you how it really changes your life to be a mom. Many parts of this book came straight out of my life with my baby...I laughed a lot.

I read this book shortly after I had my daughter. I totally could understand and feel what the characters were feeling. I laughed out loud so many times with the characters. I think anyone woman who feels like they don't have the perfect size 0 body, has small children, and some great friends would really love this book. Jennifer Weiner is a great author and writes from her heart which such a wonderful sense of humor. I hope someone else will enjoy this book as much as I did!

Four women become friends while facing various issues that come up in their lives due to their pregnancies. I don't have children, but I still loved this book. I was cheering for each of the characters the whole way through! Weiner has an amazing gift for creating well-rounded, synpathetic characters and following their stories through to each resolution. A fantastic book!

I absolutely love Jennifer Weiner's style of writing and I think this book is the best I've read so far. This book focuses on the lives and relationships between three new mothers and one mother that's recently lost her child. Ms. Weiner's character development is so true-to-life and I think any mother could identify with at least one of the characters, if not all four. I laughed out loud several times and there were times I had to get the kleenex.

The best part of this book is that it deals more with what "real" life is like as a new mom. Very good story. I've never read any of her books before, but I'll be looking into them now.

Weiner's well-developed characters and (mostly) recognizable situations lift this above the typical "three women in transition" stories. Anyone who has ever had a baby will recognize many of the trials and tribulations her characters endure.

well, this wasn't my favorite by J.W. but it was quite all right. Probably more interesting to those who are having a baby? I just felt like a lot of it was anecdotal stuff about the trials and tribulations of new motherhood; I felt like I was reading the author's new-mother diary, not a work of fiction!

not for the queasy. lots of talk of breast pumps and not much juicy, gossipy chick lit in this one.

This her richest, wittiest, most true-to-life novel yet tells the story of three very different women as they naviage one of life's most wonderful perilous transtions: the journey of new motherhood. This is a frank, funny, fiercely perceptive take on the comedies and tragedies of love and marrige.

Jennifer Weiner is fast becoming one of my favorite authors of so called “Chick Lit”. Her writing is funny, witty, tender and heartbreaking. Her books tend to be slices of life we can all relate to. Frequent glimpses of yourself, or someone you know makes you care about all her characters. And her books usually have a happy ending 

Little Earthquakes explores first time motherhood as seen through the eyes of 4 unlikely friends as they discover that having it all: motherhood, jobs, husbands and a life is a daunting task. Much of the issues explored are those you never read about in those ‘What to Expect” books, or see on “A Baby Story”.

I have minor complaints, mostly about the male characters, which all seemed a bit weak. Other than that I enjoyed this book; I laughed, cried and look forward to more books by Ms. Weiner.

Catherine Z. (catyaty) reviewed on 9/28/2009...

This book is funny and very entertaining - an easy, quick read. Weiner makes you feel like you know the characters and you are one of the girls. YOu are happy for them and feel their pain. Would be a great gift for anyone expecting a baby or has a little one. I loved it!

Erin S. reviewed on 8/24/2009...

A friend loaned me this book when we were both pregnant, and I devoured it like pickles and ice cream. No, seriously. Weiner writes believable women characters better than just about anyone out there today, and this story following four women through the journey of becoming first-time moms is a must-have for any mother. It made me laugh as often as it made me cry, and I can't blame either on the hormones. Buy it, read it, and share it with your girlfriends.

This book was so.... REAL. First time motherhood during the first year was depicted in 4 different characters in this story, and each story held elements that sent me back to those first suprises, and those first tedious, joyful, difficult, exciting, dull moments. Greatly written story, but I found it difficult to read because of the emotions it dragged out of me.

Kelly is an event planner who's struggling to balance work and motherhood while dealing with an unemployed husband who seems content to channel-surf for eight hours a day. Ayinde's basketball superstar husband breaks her trust at her most vulnerable moment, putting their new family even more in the public eye. Then there's Lia, Philadelphia native who has left her husband, and a tragic secret to start her life all over again.

I got this book because I loved her other books. However, I only got through about half of this one. I did appreciate the realistic view of the huge way having children changes a woman's life. However, the cutsie-bootsie baby moments were too much for me. Maybe someone who adores babies will get more out of this book.

Not as great as Weiner's other novels I have read but I did enjoy it. The begining was hard to get into as far as learning the characters. She jumps back and forth between characters which is difficult in the begining when you are trying to get to know who is who and what is what, it can get a bit confusing. Once getting past the introductions, I really got into the book and enjoyed the characters. By the end, I was sorry it was over. Good book about about friendships, motherhood and life.

I have read all of Jennifer Weiner's books (Good In Bed, In Her Shoes and Little Earthquakes). This one would be my favorite with Good in Bed next. I don't have the other two though, I read them from the library. This is a really good book. Highly recommended!
