This is part of a series, just a great series about life and it's pitfalls and triumphs.
Not alot of steamy sex in this series, but still a wonderful story along the lines of the Rosamund Pilcher books.

Very good cozy read about Kate Livingston and her son who return to the family lake cottage for a pleasant, quiet summer. Then she meets JD, her neighbor, who is also seeking a peaceful summer, but he is surrounded by secrets and tries to remain anonymous.
An excellent summer read! Nice style!
Such a great summer read!

another great summertime read!
This was a wonderful story. I enjoyed every minute of the book. There were places when I laughed out loud and places where I cried a little. Not only was the story great but there are recipes in the back of the book. I will defiantly use the one for s'mores.
Another wonderful read by Susan Wiggs! This book was really good!
Another great novel by this author! Kate returns to her familys lakeside cottage to mind a mysterious man and romance.

This is the 2nd book by Susan Wiggs that I've read, and I'm glad I discovered her books. Lakeside Cottage is a sweet, soft, summer read perfect for those slow, soft, summer days.
If you trust your heart, you'll always know who you are...
Each summer, Kate Livingston returns to her family's lakeside cottage, a place of simple living and happy times -- a place where she now hopes her shy little boy can blossom. But her quiet life gets a bit more interesting with the arrival of an intriguing new neighbor, JD Harris. Although she is a confirmed single mother and knows little of JD's past, Kate is soon drawn into the sweetness of a summer romance and discovers the passion of a lifetime.
JD has good reason for being secretive. In a moment of sheer bravery the Washington, D.C., paramedic prevented a terrible tragedy. Overnight the intensely private man became a national hero. He's hardly able to remember who he was before the media frenzy -- until he escapes to this lovely, remote part of the Northwest. Now Kate Livingston and her son have rekindled the joy of small pleasures and peace, something he thought he'd never have again. But how long will his blissful anonymity last before reality comes banging at his door?

A compelling story about a single Mom who spends a summer finding herself, a Ex Green Beret who is fleeing from a media storm and a runaway teen.

Great book
The summer at the lake is supposed to be a time of healing for Kate, but the handsome and intriguing JD plus the wounded teenaged Callie make the summer more of a challenge, and more rewarding, than could ever have been expected.

An good read, BUT I was disappointed in the lack of (if any) research she did for her character JD. Picked up the book because JD was a Special Forces medic. My husband was an SF medic for 18 years. I laughed every time she brought up JD's military history. It was so wrong as to be ludicrous.

Kate Livingston is planning on spending the summer at her family's cottage as she always does, but her brother and mother have moved away, so she and her son will be there alone. And she has lost her job as a columnist. J.D. Harris is using his best friend's cottage to lay low. A military medic and Green Beret, he was in the right place at the right time to save the life of the president. A national hero, his face is plastered all over the TV, newspapers, and entertainment rags, and his life is no longer his own. J.D and Kate are attracted to each other, but nothing is simple. Kate's son is difficult. In retreat, she has no idea who J.D. really is, and when he realizes that Kate is a journalist, he is angry and disappointed. Wiggs' thoroughly captivating tale draws readers into her characters' lives and minds in a way that makes them real and true and unforgettable.

Single mom spends the summer with her son at the family lake house and meets a moody man living down the lane. They fall in love. Throw in a runaway teen and lots of day to day this and that. Good read but a tad dull.
Kate is the mother of a challenging 10 yo son. For the first summer, they are spending the summer at the family cabin without Kate's brother and his family or her mother. But as it turns out, they aren't all alone. A troubled teenager joins them as does a rugged stranger who doesn't seem to have any trouble dealing with Kate's boy.
