I've never seen any book written quite like this one. Francine braids two stories into one. While Sierra is struggling with changes in her life, she reads about and finds comfort in an ancestors diary - Mary Kathryn. Uniquely written with a powerful message in the end.

I really enjoyed this book. It was powerful in how she corralated the cousins story from the past and put it with what was happening in the present time. It is a very gripping and moving story.

Very good story that I've read twice! It is two stories in one, actually. A current day story and a story from history running side by side. Pleasant reading.

Excellant story, written to keep your attention right to the end. Shows us how God watches over our lives even when we are not paying attention to Him.

My least favorite of the Francine Rivers' books, but still a great read. In perspective, being my least favorite of her books still places it well above most everything else I've read. This is a modern day story and I tend to lean toward historical stories.

Excellent story. Modern woman's story intertwined with her ancestor's story of life and coming across the country in covered wagon. A great read!
I enjoyed this book. At times it was kind of hard to grasp the common ground between the 2 main characters but really pretty good. I just started reading Francine Rivers books and love her books. Its such a blessing to find some Christian reading material.

Another Great Novel by Francine Rivers. I love the way she ties the scarlet thread from scriptures into the story.
Very well written and I loved the transition between modern story and the historical story. Story of forgiveness and the power of God's healing and love across the generations.

Woman of the nineties, connected to a young pioneer who writes in her journal about the trials she encounter, finds her life turned upside down.
I thought this book was alright, but not the best book by Francine Rivers that I've ever read. It tells the story of a woman going through a divorce who finds a journal from one of her ancestors, and it helps her to read about her experiences. A nice book, but not life-changing.
