Comments on Book Donations to Owego Elementary School - Owego, NY

I am so happy to see this school nominated, with a wonderful goal of getting books for their flood ravaged community. I graduated from this school district back in 1972, so with great pride I have donated 250 credits to get this school library back on its' feet! Good Luck!

I am from the Southern Tier. Having lived through several floods in Endicott during the 80's and 90's I have to say that this, by far, is the worst in Broom County's history. Most of my family is still in the area that was impacted. As a first grade teacher, former resident of Broom County, and book enthusiast, I am happy to see Owego Elementary listed as a school that will receive new books. So many daily necessities need to be replaced for these families, but the comfort of a familiar book at school can add joy to what might otherwise be a difficult day.

I live on Long Island , New York and had the occasion to travel to Owego not long after the flooding,,,,,I could not believe the devastation. Homes swept off their foundations, barns collapsed, roads gone...everything covered in mud or washed away !......We on Long Island were hit too, but NOTHING like upstate N.Y. I am so pleased that the goals were met for all the schools, but am particularly pleased to see upstate N.Y. schools were included....
