Twinbrook Elementary School students in Maryland are ready to read!

The vision of Twinbrook Elementary School is to teach and empower students academically, socially, and cognitively in a safe and positive environment.  This school is part of the Montgomery County (Maryland) school system, the 16th largest school system in the United States, located in the Washington D.C. suburbs.   Twinbrook Elementary School is designated a Title One School where additional Federal funding is received to ensure that children have fair, equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education. 

Title I is part of the NoChild Left Behind Act of 2001. The legislation provides federal funds to help students in schools with high economic needs achieve high standards. The specific objective of the Title I program is to enable all students to meet state and local studentperformance standards and for schools to achieve the Adequate Yearly Progress goals set by the Maryland State Department of Education.

I am nominating our school because I feel that we can use all the help we can for our students. We are a Title 1 school and even with that it is still very tight on budget. They school works very hard to make sure each child has what they need however, they are limited by budget. These students work hard as well as the teachers and deserve to get a little help especially in an area a important as this.
