Do you enjoy reading paperback books as much as we do?
This PaperBack Club was started because we were tired of not being able to share good used paperbacks with others. A while back, the proverbial light bulb went off and we came up with a solution. So we talked and talked about it (until our friends got sick of listening to us), and we decided to build this web site!
Instead of just letting used paperback books collect dust on a shelf, why not start a club with other readers and create an on-line system that allows us to swap books with other members? Voila! www.PaperBackSwap.com was born.
We promise not to send you spam, sell or give your email address to anyone, or anything like that. This is a real club for real members. No gimmicks. No gotchas. We are a family-run web site and intend to keep it that way. We all have real day jobs, and we work on this on any spare moments we have, including evenings and weekends. And sometimes it is more work than we bargained for!
How does it work?
To make this club work, all of our club members have agreed to cooperate with each other. We ask all members of the club to list at least 10 books on the website. There are no limits on how many books you can list. The more you post, the more opportunities you have of having books requested and earning additional book credits. We have noticed that members who post 50 or more books are the ones who tend to receive lots of book requests - and in turn they're able to earn lot of books for free.
When another member selects one of your books, you mail it to them and earn a free book credit. Yes, you do have to pay for the postage. But then, when you select a book from the club, another member returns the favor and mails you one of their books free of charge. For every book you mail out, you get a credit to request another book of your choice in return - a true shared system. Best of all, the books are free and yours to keep!
This internet-based club allows members to swap used paperbacks free of charge. Since members trade books, the books are free! Eventually we hope to offset our database costs, server, and other costs by asking for club members to contribute between $10 and $20 for annual Club Membership dues. But right now Charter Members get to use the club for FREE as a gift from the Founders. We just want you to be able to use the site and be able to trade books with other members. If you see something that needs fixing, or just have a suggestion, then please let us know at www.PaperBackSwap.com/feedback/. You can also use the Feedback button on the website.
To get you started, we will give you 2 free book credits when you initially list your first 10 books. This way, you can start receiving books in the mail for free. Needless to say, we are really excited about growing this club and want you to be able to order books as soon as you sign up.
How do I know where to send a requested book?
PaperBackSwap.com sends you an email asking you to mail your book to another club member when they request one of your books. Then all you have to do is:
It's that simple!
Each time you mail a book, you earn a credit when your book is received by the other member. Then you can order another book for yourself. Or you can have a book sent to someone you care about. Yes, you can even send paperback books to people who are not members!
Now here is a thought. How much does it cost to send a card to someone you care about? By the time you pay for the card and the stamps, it usually costs several dollars. But now as a member of the PaperBackSwap club you can request a book on-line and have it mailed directly to their address. It does not get much easier than this to send someone a nice card or gift.
We have read so many great books over the years, and we have always wanted to share them with friends. As a Charter Member of PaperBackSwap.com, you can benefit by becoming a member of the club, offering important feedback to continuously improve the club and receive great books for free!
If you have paperback books lying around and want to share them with others, then please take a look at www.PaperBackSwap.com today and become a Charter Member. And if you like what you see, could you please pass this along to other readers that you know?
Thanks for your consideration and happy reading!
Best Regards,
Richard E. Pickering
