Adam Bold is an American author and businessman. He is the founder of The Mutual Fund Store, Smart401k and host of The Mutual Fund Show, a national weekly talk radio show focused on actively managed mutual fund investments. With thousands of mutual funds available, Bold emphasizes the importance of research and the fund manager's past and current role in the success of a mutual fund. The Mutual Fund Show airs in multiple markets nationwide. Bold is a Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor (CMFC), a designation awarded by the College for Financial Planning, and a Certified Fund Specialist (CFS), a certification awarded by the Institute of Business and Finance.
In 1996, Bold founded The Mutual Fund Store, a fee-based investment advisory service using actively managed, no fee and fee-waived mutual funds to build client portfolios. Clients pay a quarterly fee based on their account value for investment advice and actively manage their portfolios. Because investment advisors are fee-based, they accept no incentives, commissions or benefits from fund companies, therefore, maintaining their independence . The company is headquartered in Overland Park, KS, with locations nationwide.
In the summer of 2004, Adam Bold and Scott Revare founded Smart401k, a Web-based independent investment adviser, with the goal of helping employees invest in their 401(k)s.
Bold also is author of The Bold Truth About Investing, published by Ten Speed Press.
Bold was a three-time finalist in Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award regional competition before earning the distinction in 2006 as the Central Region’s top entrepreneur in the financial services sector.
He was named to the Board of Advisors for the Institute of Business & Finance (IBF), the fourth oldest provider of financial certifications in the United States.
