Ready for an adventure? This book will take you on one! It certainly did me. Angels & Demons was the first Dan Brown novel that I read and I was captivated from the first sentence to the last word. This is a riveting thriller that is action-packed with suspense, murder, and mayhem that threatens to erupt on the eve of the new pope's coronation. Plus, it is filled with factual information regarding historical landmarks and the Catholic Church, while intertwining science and religion. I highly recommend putting this book on your "must-read" list!

Really well-written. The historical facts are very accurate but it does not have to shake anyone's religious convictions.... it is just an excellent read.

This is a thrill a minute book but what I liked about it was the solid historical background, which emphasizes the repression of scientific discovery by the Church.

Great storytelling by Dan Brown. A must read if you were spellbound by the DaVinci Code. One of my all time favorites. Can't wait for more Dan Brown works in the future.

an excellent thriller more than enough twist and surpries to keep you guessing.

Better than the Da Vinci Code, I thought, and the inside look at the workings of the Vatican was fascinating.

This is probably the best book that I have read to date. If you read and like The Da Vinci Code, you will definately enjoy this book. I actually liked Angels and Demons better than Da Vinci Code.

I love Dan Brown! Da Vinci Code (DVC) was my first, and this is my second. I think Angels & Demons was a lot like DVC. If you liked DVC, you'll probably like this one too.

I had a love/hate relationship with this book. It is fast paced and interesting and kept me going. Brown's style is easy to read and kept my attention from wandering. On the negative side, I found some of the 'twists' to be a little simple, despite insistence from the author that they were important. These moments, while not incredibly numerous, still had me groaning from time to time. Overall, I would still say it's a good read for a rainy day

I started to read this novel but found it too much like the Da Vinci Code and therefore never finished. The content behind the story is very intriguing.

ANGELS & DEMONS IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS.
A pulse-pounding, edge-of-your-seat thriller. ANGELS & DEMONS is as compelling as Umberto Eco... as engaging as Tom Clancy... as fast-paced as Michael Crichton... and rivals the best Thomas Harris thriller. Angels & Demons earns Dan Brown a place among these literary peers.

This book is great if you love a good suspense book, this book is hard to put down at least it was for me. Better then the movie. Murder, good story telling, Dan brown is great at twisting the facts and making them work for his book, there is just enough truth in this book to be dangerous, (Ok I didn't say that but it is the truth.)

It took me about 75 pages to really get into this book, but once I did, I finished it in two days. That's really fast for me! I sometimes don't have the longest attention span when it comes to reading (haha!), but I sat and read this book for four straight hours and then only put it down because I had somewhere else to be. I've always been intrigued by books and movies that deal with secret societies and I loved reading about art and architecture, Rome, and the Vatican in addition. Truly a suspenseful story with lots of twists. Great book!

I really liked the Da Vinci Code, so I thought another Dan Brown book with Robert Langdon was a must to read. Dan Brown does a fairly good job at weaving fiction in the historical setting of Rome and the Vatican. The whole story takes place in less than 24 hours. Science at odds with religion with the Illuminati at the center of the mystery. Robert Langdon portrays the Harvard symbologist with almost superhero powers. He manages to evade death time and time again. I do think jumping out of a helicopter without a parachute and using only a tarp to break the fall was a bit far fetched. A stimulating fun long book (almost 700 pages)which is perfect for a long plane ride.

I read Angels and Demons because I liked The DaVinci Code. I wasn't expecting it to be better! To me Angels and Demons was much more plausible than The DaVinci Code. For fans of conspiracy theories and religious scandal/history, Angels and Demons is a must read. It moves very quickly. You can feel the frenzy and frustration. It really makes you think about what you know about organized religion and science.

I am a fan of Illuminati references, so when I saw coming attractions for "Angels & Demons", the movie, I couldn't wait to watch it. But the release date seemed too far off.
Instead, I popped down to my local Goodwill and, as if by divine decree, this book was sitting there just waiting to be taken home and read. Who was I not to oblige?
The book was fantastic. Whoever was commissioned to do the artwork inside the book was inspired. And the ending? The surprises just keep coming. Robert Langdon's character is quirky, nuanced, and well developed, as is that of his female scientist sidekick.
If you have the credit, do not pass up the opportunity to read this book!

I've read all four Dan Brown books, and this was my favorite. If you liked "The Da Vinci Code", this book, the prequel, was a hundred times better.
Fast-paced and set in Rome, you get a lesson in Roman and Vatican history - I'm sure I'm not the only one who wished she had a pass into the Vatican library after reading this - and you'll be kept on the edge of your seat to boot. The secret society featured in this novel is The Illuminati - an ancient society dedicated to taking down the Catholic Church. High-ranking Catholic priests being publicly murdered in increasingly horrific ways, all branded with mysterious symbols. Can Langdon stop the Illuminati and save the Vatican?

I really enjoyed this book for many reasons:
* References to symbology, art and architecture are very informative and interesting - and because I love all three, this made it even more enjoyable for me. I'm sure I am not the first nor last person who, after reading about the main character, Robert Langdon, thinks a degree in symbology would be THE most interesting thing ever! I wish I could just take a class on the topic. If you are a lover of art history, architecture and/or find the history of symbology interesting - that alone will sustain your interest throughout the book.
* I will admit that at times the reader is required to suspend disbelief, however, I feel Dan Brown incorporates an astounding level of factual information in his books and really does his reasearch. I came away feeling as though I accomplished two things 1) enjoyed a great book and 2)learned something new and interesting;
* Being Catholic, I gave into my need/desire to research information in both this and the DaVinci Code. While the book had no effect on my faith either way, I will admit I do feel I learned a lot about the Catholic Church and other organizations after reading Brown's books. It really goes the extra mile and prompts the reader to think and possibly, like myself, research information for themselves. I also feel that the fact that I am Catholic made the book a lot easier for me to understand as I know many of my friends who are non-Catholic are mystified by the Church at times. It was very easy for me to relate to the characters and plot in the book because of my knowledge and experience.
* The book is a real page-turner. I had a hard time putting it down and lost serious sleep while reading this book. I have read most, if not all, of Brown's books and cannot wait for the next!
* The book was made into a movie and because I usually always read the books first, knew where inconsistencies popped up in the movie. While unavoidable I will admit I was just a little disappointed in some of the deviations the movie made from the book. I enjoyed the book a lot more than the movie.
If you liked DaVinci Code and/or Dan Brown, you will most likely enjoy this book. I highly recommend it and personally have added it to my list of books I am planning to re-read at some point in time.

I read Angels & Demons after reading The DaVinci Code, and that definitely influenced by reaction to the book.
I love a page-turning mystery thriller, which is exactly what Angels & Demons is. But after The DaVinci Code, it just seemed formulaic. Take more-or-less the same characters, give them different names and professions, thrown in a different conspiracy theory history and you've got a new novel.

If you like Dan Brown that is a plus when reading this book, because he writes the same as in the 'The DaVinci Code', I felt like I was reading the 'The DaVinci Code' all over again except it had different characters and the plot was different, the tone, the ambience all the same, not much different, just a copycat version but the names have been changed. Wish they could have found someone else besides Mr. Hanks to be the main character in both movies. He doesn't fit the character. They needed someone younger, as much as I find Hanks a good actor, this is one time he's not.

I like Dan Brown, and Angels & Demons didn't disappoint, the story is immersible and entertaining. I really didn't want to put it down. I don't want to spoil anything, so no comment about the ending, you just have to read it to believe it. Even so, I couldn't put this book down. Da Vinci Code is better but these two books are in the same league as they are highly entertaining. I can see past the religion and see the book for what it is - entertainment. It isn't a personal vendetta against the Roman Catholic church, nor is it blasphemous or trying to change the history of mankind. It's just an adrenaline-pumping, page-turning suspence novel. You need to suspend your belief system a bit for this book. It holds your attention and is a quick read for a commitment of almost 600 pages. I did not see the plot twists coming until the very end for this book. The "villain" or hassassin (as Mr Brown calls him) has no character development. He just likes to kill people but the basis of that nasty personality trait is not explored. As long as people realize that this is a fictional work, it is entertaining. I'm uncertain why the Vatican is so polarized by this work other than the fact that Dan Brown wrote it.

An excellent read! I always imagined Robert Langdon looking like David Boreanaz, and when I found out Tom Hanks plays the charactor, I was like, "What?!" David would be a MUCH better fit.

Better than the DaVinci Code! Reader is introduced to Robert Langdon whose adventures take him to Rome and inside Vatican City and the brotherhood of the Illuminati. A real page turner!

This is a fun book. On all the best seller lists.
In many ways better than Da Vinci Code. Caused a research frenzy in our household. Most of the science is fact and will blow your mind when considered possible.

Dan Brown's plots are a bit contrived, and the romance is downright silly, but the books are worth reading for what you learn about art and religion. This book is better than DaVinci, and it will make you want to go to Rome and explore for days or weeks.

Great ideas but this book was 150 pages too long. If you can get past the first 120 pages after that the action will sail you along. But the end tends to meander.

Like the majority of readers, I read Angels & Demons by Dan Brown after reading The Da Vinci Code. I would venture that most people reading this review are asking the question, "How does Angels & Demons compare to The Da Vinci Code?" The short answer is that they're very similar. If you enjoyed The Da Vinci Code, you should enjoy Angels & Demons.
Great book. Couldn't put it down.

"Angels & Demons" is an excellent book. I have always been interested in the tales of the Illuminati, and I am familiar with some of their history. This made the book a bit more enjoyable for me.
Dan Brown is a very good storyteller. He had me enthralled to the very end (I actually read this book in 3-days).
I will be honest, though I won't ruin the book for anyone, there is one minor flaw with the story, which you will have to figure out on your own by reading the book. You will enjoy the book, though, while trying to figure out the flaw.
Enjoy!

Great, suspenseful, fascinating information about church history and art history. Even better than DaVinci Code!
I loved this book. Perfect for a plane ride or a quiet Saturday afternoon. Better than Di Vinci Code!
I liked this book a lot.
Great book, couldn't put it down. Better than DaVinci Code. great read.
"Before the DA VINCI CODE was broken, the world lay at the mercy of ANGELS AND DEMONS." If you liked THE DA VINCI CODE, this is a must read. It is Robert Langdon's first adventure, and just as excitingly unbelievable as THE DAVINCI CODE. Unbelievable or not, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
I loved this book from start to finish. Great job by Dan Brown.
Excellent story featuring Roberg Langdon. Keeps you guessing til the very end. Answers some questions you might have come up with if you read Da Vinci Code first, because the events of Angels and Demons actually take place before the events of Da Vinci Code.
Great book, I thought it was better than DaVinci. I couldn't get in to DaVinci at all.
Very good book.
Awesome! I want to go to Rome!! And... I want Dan Brown to write more novels!
This book was the source of extensive controversy over the past few years. If you take on and of Dan Brown's writing, be prepared, it contains some content which may be offensive to Christian, specifically Catholics. I (a Catholic) enjoyed this book tremendously for it's fast-paced, culturally rich plotline. Just when you think you've figured out Dan Brown he throws in another twist, and I can't resist buying his books. If you're afraid the content might offend you, just remember it's fiction, and keep turning the pages for a fascinating mystery you won't soon forget.
I loved it! I'd say this book was even better than the DaVinci Code (similar plot characteristics, but a fantastic read, nontheless.)
This was a good book, well written & fast paced. However it is very similar to Da Vinci code & I did actually enjoy it more then this one. But worth the read if you enjoy his writing.
By the author of the DaVinci Code, this book is a kind of prequel to that best-seller, and provides the same kind of page-turning suspense as DaVinci.
This is a very good book that was hard to put down including life and death cliffhangers, religion, murder, architecture, keeping you guessing until the very end.
My favorite Dan Brown book. Yes, even better than DaVinci Code, in my opinion. Very suspenseful read.

Good book, but not as good as "The Divinci Code." This is more "action & adventure." It does give some interesting insight into the Vatican, though. And the characters are still quite likable.

a fun read. even better than Da Vinci Code, I thought!
Wonderful "follow the clues" story. Especially if you have been to Rome.
This is a wonderful suspense thriller pitting science against faith; which helps humanity and which destroys it? It's a very thought provoking concept; It would be fun discussing at a book club.
Exciting Dan Brown thriller involving the pope and catholic church. Better than DaVinci Code!
I liked this book a lot better than the DaVinci Code. It just moved at a faster pace.
I enjoyed it immensely, although there are some similarities to Dan Browns OTHER book.
My favorite of Dan Brown's books. Much better than DaVinci Code!
Similar to DaVinci Code. Good fast paced book. Harvard symbologist summoned to research facility fo analyze cryptic symbal seared into chest of murdered physicist. Becomes a race to save Vatican from a time bomb.
If you've read the DaVinci Code by Dan Brown and loved it you'll love this one too! Fast paced action and plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. Highly recommended!
Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is shocked to find proof that the legendary secret society, the Illuminati--dedicated since the time of Galileo to promoting the interests of science and condemning the blind faith of Catholicism--is alive, well, and murderously active. Brilliant physicist Leonardo Vetra has been murdered, his eyes plucked out, and the society's ancient symbol branded upon his chest. His final discovery, antimatter, the most powerful and dangerous energy source known to man, has disappeared--only to be hidden somewhere beneath Vatican City on the eve of the election of a new pope. Langdon and Vittoria, Vetra's daughter and colleague, embark on a frantic hunt through the streets, churches, and catacombs of Rome, following a 400-year-old trail to the lair of the Illuminati, to prevent the incineration of civilization.
Read this book after I read the Davinci Code a few years ago, it was a very good book. I hear now that it is going to be a movie. I will definalty go see it
Another great Dan Brown book. Keeps you hooked the whole time.
A centuries-old underground organization - the Illuminati - are linked to recent murders. It's up to Robert Langdon, a renowned Harvard symbologist to solve the mysteries and save the Vatican. It's a wild ride with many twists and turns. You'll never get bored and you won't want it to end!
I liked this book even more than I did The Da Vinci Code!

A fast paced, excellent read. Dan Brown rarely fails to please.
Another smashing hit by Dan Brown!
One of Dan Brown's best books! I liked it as much as DaVinci Code!

Loved this book.
Fast read.
I am a new reader of Dan Brown but truely enjoyed this story.
just like DaVinci Code. Loved it!
A fun romp through the Vatican; almost reads like a tour guide, except for the bits about murder and mayhem. All around a thoroughly enjoyable read.
riveting! It precedes Da Vinci code, but of course can be read in any order. Very fun!
This book was awesome! Very interesting, and impossible to put down! I would highly recommend it!
Great book!! Better than the Davinci Code. A must read.
By the author of the Da Vinci code, a suspense filled story with a countdown to disaster. Our unlikley hero must prevent the destruction of our oldest and largest religious dyansty, with the help of a talented and beatiful herione. Many twists and turns in this story.
I liked this book better than the DA Vinci Code. Strong female character, religion examination, and science weaved together to form a book you won't be able to put down!
Excellant dan brown
First Dan Brown book I've read. Thoroughly enjoyed it
I liked this one from beginning to end
An exciting thriller, it was hard to put down.
I thought the book was ok.
My son said it was better then the Da Vinci Code.
Similar to the Da Vinci Code, but a little more over the top. Much more violent and a little more twisted. Interesting symbology, not as well presented as DVC.
This book is also about Robert Langdon (of DaVinci Code fame). This time people are killing the cardinals in line for the position of Pope. Fast paced and fun
A really GREAT read! I couldnt put this book down at all !!! It moved at a good fast pace and kept you moving and hopping til the very end. Awesome!!!
Great read, reccommended before Davinci Code
I really liked this book! I had read "The Da Vinci Code" first and like it slightly better, but this book, Robert Langdon's first adventure, is still worth the time it took to read it! I LOVED THIS BOOK.
Fantastic! I would also recommend reading this book before reading Da Vinci Code, because you get a great back story on the main character from this book.
Very interesting story. Many twists and turns. Keeps your interest till the end.
Better than the first one and having it set in Rome is fabulous!
Thought it was less historically intriguing and more violent, too violent for my taste.
excellent book.

I absolutely loved this book. This was cleaverly written and I literally had to make myself put this book down to get to work. I love mystery and suspence and this book had both. Highly, highly recommend reading this book.
The prequel to The DaVinci Code, this book was just as exciting and fast paced. It is a story of puzzles that must be deciphered to save the city from a massive disaster. I couldn't put it down!
This was an incredibly fast read, as were all of Dan Brown's books for me!! I really enjoyed this one!!
This is by far Dan Brown's best novel. This is the book that should have been made into a movie!
I read this one after The DaVinci Code. Felt both of them equally intriguing.
Love it awesome! Very hard to put down
I loved it, you can't put it down and there are many twist and turns.
Fast read, very intertaining.
Interesting and well written. Predictable but thrilling and at times gory. But I enjoyed it anyway.
GREAT book... Better than DiVinci Code!!

A must read!
Great book. It has lots of twists all along, and I could never guess what would happen next. It takes a little while to get into it, but once you are there, it is a page turner, and hard to put down. I never expected it to end the way it did.
Suspenseful! Surprise ending!
Fantastic book. If you have not watched the movie, I suggest doing so before reading the book. They both have different endings, and I think if you see the movie first you will enjoy it, and then love the book even more after watching. If you read the book first, you will love it, but then be a bit disappointed when watching the movie, even knowing that they are limited in two hours on what they can do.
As much as I loved the DaVinci Code, Angels & Demons is even better. This book was a true page turner with a fascinating look at Church v. Science. Twists and turns galore. Dan Brown in a genius of an author.
Can't wait to see the movie.
Can't wait to see the movie.
I liked this book a lot better than the DeVinci Code.
It has a lot more non stop action. Both books really made me think but I enjoyed this oen more. It seemed to be more rounded and did not go back and fourth between charectors as much.

I don't normally like mystery books, but this one is very captivating. I never knew exactly what was going to happen. I also like The Da Vinci Code by the same author.
Loved it!
This was a fantastic read--you'll love it if you liked Da Vinci Code. It has the same flavour.
Lots of plot twists...almost makes it to DaVinci Code calibur.
Even better than Dan Brown's more popular book The Da Vincci Code.
The prequel to the Da Vinci Code.
A great read - many of my friends consider it better than DaVinci Code - first in the Robert Langdon adventures.
OUTSTANDING BOOK!

Too bloody for me...but the story was interesting and kept me reading. I ended up skipping over the gory parts.

Great book, could not put it down!
This is the best of all the Langdon books by far. Thats saying something, because its not that easy to be better than the Lost Symbol!!
This is probably the best of the Langdon novels. The plot is pretty tightly constructed, it takes off fast and never lets up. Great twist at the end. If you like any of Brown's other novels, you'll like this one. I have difficulty getting past certain of his flaws as a writer, but if you can just relax and enjoy it, it's a good suspense/mystery.

Excellent book! The movie was awful, so please don't let that deter you from reading this. If you liked the Da Vinci Code & The Lost Symbol (and somehow haven't read this one yet), then you should definitely order it.

I first got swept up in the Dan Brown craze when The DaVinci Code hit the big time. I was drawn into that story and didn't realize the gaping holes in Mr. Brown's writing until I read this book. The story is as interesting as The DaVinci Code, but there are far more disappointing liberties that he takes with this story. The final pages of this book left me so disenchanted with Dan Brown, I tried to swear off his books, but picked up The Lost Symbol, which surpassed even this one in literary malfeasance.
I enjoy it very much. I just can't believe who was behind the scandal all along. I can't wait for the movie to come out! It's a must read!!
Exciting all the way through. Keeps you wanting to keep reading, Very well writin.
I read Angels & Demons looking for clarity from watching the movie. I am easily confused when there are many characters involved in a plot that takes place in a short amount of time. After I read the book, I realized the movie had a different ending so I was still a little confused. However, the book was a definite page turner, keeping me on the edge of my seat throughout. I got lost in some of the scientific arguments, but understood most of the religious comments because of my past as a Catholic. The book was a great read, but certainly not as good as I was told it would be.

My husband read this one. It's on my list to read. My husband liked this book. He felt it was one of Dan Brown's better novels.
Easily the best book I've read in YEARS. It was a bit long, but it was definitely a page-turner. I stayed up till 3am just to finish it. Loved it so much that I'm planning to read all the books by this author.
This book was awesome! Way fast paced & hard to put down. Hopefully the movie can live up....
Dan Brown's prequel to the Da Vinci Code started out promising to me. It combined the ancient brotherhood of the Illuminati, modern and ancient Catholicism, CERN (A European organization for Nuclear Science), and the moral implications of science as a whole in one book. Being raised in a family of devout Catholics it had much appeal for me.
The great thing about the book is that it gets right to the point on the first page when you read the prologue. A Physicist/Priest named Leonardo Vetra is murdered in his home inside CERN's research facility located in Geneva. When a suspicious brand proclaiming the word Illuminati is found on on the body's chest our unassuming hero Robert Langdon enters the picture. Langdon is a Harvard professor of Religious Iconology and is called in by CERN's director general Maximilian Kohler. Kohler is introduced as a physically frail man with an awe/fear inspiring ironclad rule over the entire facility. As the author introduces us to the Physics aspect of the book which is important considering the obstacle our main characters it gets a little dry and I found myself wanting to skip it but decided not to because I thought it was probably important.
Langdon does a great job of giving us an "Illuminati for Dummies" lesson however so we knew just a few pages in exactly who we as the reader are dealing with. This is important because the fanatical man we know only as the Hassassin committing these murders has been hired by the Illuminati (The Illuminati being one man calling himself "Janus" in the modern representation of the brotherhood.) to remove Vetra as a threat to the society because he proved the Big Bang Theory to be possible thus plausibly leading people to religion again.
We meet up with Vittoria Vetra, Leonardo Vetra's adopted daughter and fellow scientist, right about the time Langdon has been given his tour of the facility and has seen Vetra's body. She comes off at first as a grieving daughter, but as a character I found her slightly annoying in the beginning only because the author's emphasis on how sexy she was took away the seriousness that the character's father was murdered, had his eye cut out, and been branded across his chest. The gravity of the situation should have taken precedence over the way she walked and how her hair smelled. We were supposed to be left in horror at this point and wanting to find answers. She does redeem herself later in the book though and I did find myself liking her after my initial reaction.
When Vittoria leads Langdon and Kohler through her father's laboratory, we find that a canister of antimatter has been stolen which holds enough power to level Vatican City and some surrounding areas of Rome. Time is ticking down as the canister only has 24 hours of battery life before the antimatter loses it's magnetic field holding it in place inside of the canister before it drops causing the explosion. A call comes in that locates the missing antimatter somewhere inside Vatican City where Il Conclave is about to begin, the Catholic Church's ritual for the election of a Pope that takes place 15 days after the previous one dies. With the antimatter located (somewhat, we still have to find the canister itself inside of Vatican City) our now unassuming heroes Langdon and Vittoria are on their way to Italy.
The last main character of the book Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca was now introduced to us. The camerlengo is a position inside the Catholic church appointed to the personal servant to the previous Pope to reside over the office until the conclave of cardinals is finished and a new one is elected. Immediately he comes of as a refreshing breath of air given all Langdon and Vittoria has went through simply in the acts of reaching the office of the Pope.
As the storyline progresses from here, you sometimes wonder if Langdon is Superman or just a Harvard Professor. Several superhuman feats on spur in of the moment situations with no military or survivalist training makes you do sort of an eye roll from time to time but the book redeems itself simply from the fascinating story it tells based on facts of history. Brown was well informed and the realistic quality (besides the aforementioned) was there. It provides a history lesson with a twist.
The ending though surprising, left me disappointed. I have to admit I was rooting both as a former Catholic and a reader for poor old Carlo. The thought of a young and sympathetic Pope even had me cheering for the church a bit after the sometimes harsh but true representation of them in the book.
Without giving the ending away and ruining it for the reader I can not say more in this review but all in all, if you take it for the fascinating history, science, and Catholicism lesson that it is with the few very minor flaws the characters have, it's a wonderful read and at 600+ pages it's a great way to spend a rainy weekend.

Wonderful read. A real page turner. The story did get a bit dull for me in a couple of chapters but then the story would pick up and I couldn't put it down.
This book is based on some faulty logic. BUT, it's a good read, exciting, edge-of-your seat fun.
People say it is better than DaVinci Code but I had a hard time getting into this one. Another interesting plot and I'm sure Brown explained things well but I just felt lost because I had no background on the groups involved.
I liked it but have not read the DaVinci Code.
This is, in my opinion, Dan Brown's best work. He crafts a compeling and believable story line. Much better than The DaVinci Code.
Excellent book! A page-turner.
Great book packed with lots of action. I have only read a couple of his books but enjoyed them all.
fascinating, well-woven story that brings into light how vastly powerful an idea can be.
My favorite of all the Dan Brown books.
I don't really remember much about this book besides the neat wordplay designs (I read it a couple of years ago), but I definitely preferred it over The Da Vinci Code. It's a very riveting story, I remember that much!
I love Dan Brown's attention to historical detail. It makes his stories so much more true to life and plausible. The twist and turns in plot keep you reading. Be prepared to read this in one sitting! And when you are done, read it again!
Wow!! I liked this even better than The Da Vinci Code!! A super fast read!!

Not nearly as good as the first book. It's interesting but it feels too over the top. I did enjoy reading it but it just wasn't as good as I was hoping.

This was a lot like Da Vinci Code (which I read first). So, it seemed like basically the same book with new characters, and a newish plot. Nevertheless, I did like it. I would dub this book an excellent airport-I'm-waiting-for-my-flight read.

In some ways this story is superior to "The Da Vinci Code". It actually takes place before the aforementioned story and follows Robert Langdon racing around Rome, trying to unravel a mystery that reaches into the heart of the Vatican itself.
Really a great story if you go into it expecting nothing more than a fast-paced, entertaining ride. Nice summertime read.
Really a great story if you go into it expecting nothing more than a fast-paced, entertaining ride. Nice summertime read.
Great read, very entertaining and interesting!
Robert Langdon is awakened by an early morning phone call and by days end is involved in tracking down stolen anti-matter, solving a centuries old mystery, and foiling a plot to destroy the Catholic church and the Vatican. If this sounds like the latest cinematic techno-thriller, it is. Dan Brown has created a bookish hero/anti-hero to rival Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan.
The action is pretty much non-stop and the many short chapters feel like cut scenes in a well scripted movie. The writing is fast paced, intelligent and draws you in. This novel is a roller coaster for the mind and yet, like a roller coaster, at its highest points you see the surrounding world from a fresh perspective. The theological questions and the historical give one food for thought while the ongoing story sweeps you along on an adrenalin high.
This is a fast, fun, facile read. Enjoy.

I loved this book!! I couldn't put down! It kept me guessing and running along with the characters and OH what a ride. A good "who done it" is always my choice of reading and even better when your guess of "who done it" is way off. As you turn the pages your mind is discovering who is the real villain. I love a good twist. GREAT READ!!
Well-written and very interesting mix of facts and supposition. Not quite as good as "The Da Vinci Code" but thoroughly entertaining.
Good book, but not my usual genre. My hubby loved it.

I am hooked to his books. A great story that kept me on the edge from the first sentence to the last.
I like this one much better than DeVinci Code. It is a great read.
Loved, loved, loved this book! Exciting fast paced adventure that makes you really wonder about the power of the CHURCH & conspiracies. Never a dull moment, I read it after DaVinci, & it really is the prequel but it made no matter. It was great from beginning to end. Highly recommend.
This book is the most awesome book Dan Brown has written so far. He really outdid himself on this one.
It's a lot like DaVinci Code...but more interesting, with better plot twists. I stayed up way too late, 2 nights running.
Excellent!!
The begining and spellbinding!
I was looking forward to getting this book for almost two weeks. Then it arrived day before yesterday!!! I literally stood up ALL night reading this book. I read the entire book for the exception of 34 pages in one sitting!!! Great storyline!! Would definately recommend!
Loved this book even more than The DiVinci Code. Fast-paced action, interesting factual information, likeable, complex characters. A book you can immerse yourself in.
This story is no where near as good as the Davinci Code. Infact if I had read this book first I probably wouldn't have bothered with the Code. I found this story to be to farfetched to make sense.
very suspensiful kept me reading
At least as good as the DaVinci code -- maybe better.
Excellent book! Lots of twists and turns! Once you start it, you will find it hard to put down!
Very similar in style to The DaVinci Code.
It is quick, easy reading - a real page turner. The story is very fast paced. If you liked The Da Vinci Code, you will also like Angels and Demons - very similar.
Light Summer Reading fun.
Great book. I liked it better than Davinci Code.
I enjoyed the suspense in this book. The ending was a surprise, just like in the Da Vinci Code.
Quick read and a lot of action.
Fast-paced adventure. Great read!
This is one of the best books I have ever read. It is a little slow at first, then it draws you in and you cannot put it down. I knew as soon as I finished this book it would be made into a movie. Movie opens this Month with Tom Hanks as the Main Character, can not wait to see it. Love it!!!
Good and evil do not mix but we all know that. There are some parts of the book that are repetitive but all in all this was a page turner.
This was so good that I had to get it hardback so I could read it over and over again. This is not my usual genre but for Robert Langdon I will make an exception.
LOVE IT! I liked this one even more than The DaVinci Code! This book is a little more fast paced, more murder, and still has a great mystery! I loved the geography and history aspects too! This book defintely makes you think a little bit more about Creationism, Christianity, Catholicism, and how science fits in. Very interesting. One warning, the first probably 40 pages or so are very scientific, and for me were hard to get through. If you decide to read this book and find you are having the same problem... stick to it! It WILL pick up!
Angels & Demons is a fast read with a really compelling story and some interesting factual information in it. It's written at a pretty low level, but is fun and interesting nevertheless. This book doesn't disappoint!
A really fun read. There were so many twists and turns I had trouble putting it down. There were a lot of interesting facts and details but the action and suspense was what had me tearing through the pages.
Keeps you turning pages

i really enjoyed reading this book, it kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next. the ending was a surprise, i didn't see it coming at all. i'm definately going to check out the other books dan brown has written
very good! couldn't put it down....
Robert Langdon is a Harvard professor of symbology and a world-renowned expert on the subject. His quiet life is turned upside down when he receives a fax with the symbol of the Illuminati branded on a murdered man's chest and an insistent summons to help with the investigation.
I enjoyed this book tremendously for the adventure, the history, the quick pace and the light romance. I literally couldn't put it down and stayed up into the wee hours of the morning reading because I had to find out who Janus was, what it is he was after and where the secret Illuminati lair was.
It was interesting to see the conflict between good and evil in this story and Mr. Brown's interpretation of it. You can't get away from it - it's in the title itself. It was fascinating to see how the same things could be perceived to be on the opposite ends of the spectrum depending on the viewpoint of the examiner: are science, knowledge, education and progress good or are they to be shunned in favor of almost blind faith? Is murder justified if it's a means to a righteous end? Can goodness become evil if it goes untempered?
I couldn't help but grow fond of Robert, Vittoria and even the frosty Maximillian Kohler. They each have a story that makes them who they are and this humanity makes them all but walk off the page. For the same reason the villain is that much more chilling - I know there are people in this world who are at the same level of delusional conviction and will do anything to achieve their goals.
The academic explanations tended to slow down the pace but not enough to pull me out of the story. It was more like listening to a highly educated person carry on a conversation in which their field is involved - they just can't resist telling you all the different things they find fascinating and venture off into the realm of lecture before they catch themselves but when it's all said and done you still find that you're glad they told you all those things.
I would recommend this highly satisfying read to fans of edge-of-your-seat mystery with elements of history. Just be prepared to not sleep much until you turn that last page.

By far Dan Brown's best work (that I've read, anyway.) This is everything a historical thriller should be: fast-paced, suspenseful, and leaving you hanging at every turn, and yet smart and interesting as well. The book manages to strike that perfect balance between thrilling adventure and thought-provoking issues that Dan Brown has never quite managed to duplicate since. There's a lot of information, and yet it all fits with what's going on. Everything in the novel is very tight. Similarly, the central issue of faith versus reason is presented in a very balanced way, not leaning too much on either side and showing the good and the bad of both ways of thinking. You'll be amazed at how quickly you read this book, the story moves so quickly. It's maybe not the world's greatest book, but it's definitely a great read.
I really enjoyed the fast pace of this book. The plot twists kept me up late reading before bed. If you read "The Davinci Code" the format of this book is predictable.
Awesome book. dan brown at his best. i actually liked this book more than the davinci code. a must read.
Good book, well written, kept the action going.
Similar to The DaVinci Code but not as good. This one is the first book with Robert Langdon in it, but it doesn't matter if you read them out of sequence. I liked all the thrills and action, but DC is still way better.
This is a breathless, real-time adventure involving a anient secret brotherhood. You will have a very hard tie putting it down. A must read.
Great read!
Precursor to The DaVinci Code, although both are stand-alone stories. Fast moving suspense with beautiful, descriptive passages of European architecture thrown in. It will be interesting to see this translated to the movie screen.
I thought this was a great book to follow The Da Vinci Code!~!
Awesome!!!
This author is amazing at slowly revealing the story. The action never stops and the twists turns and surprises will leave you going "WHAT-NO WAY!!"
Another awesome book by Dan Brown. I thought this was very interesting. In this book I found a new author to read. I enjoy the pace at which the book progresses.
This book is riveting and keeps you on your toes the entire time! I read this book is less than one day. I simply couldn't put it down!
My favorite out of all of the Dan Brown books! Angels and Demons is a fast-paced thriller packed with edge-of-your-seat action. You also get the benefit about learning some art history and Catholic history/politics along the way!
I did enjoy the book once I got past the very technical beginning. It was a little long on the science and antimatter information. I do understand why Dan Brown did this as it was important to the rest of the book. I highly recommend this book.
This is the prequel to "The Da Vinci Code." If you were a little put off by the subject matter of "Code" but were entertained by Dan Brown's style, you'll probably like this better. Plus, Robert Langdon gets a little romance!
Dan Brown is an excellent suspense writer.
Far better than The Da Vinci Code, IMHO.
Extremely good book
Better than The Da Vinci Code
makes you wonder...
great book!
This book, the prelude to the DaVinci Code, was so good that I read it twice! Murder, mystery, what more could you want?
Love angels and demons great read
Robert Langdon book which precedes _The_DaVinci_Code_ but didn't catch on until the later book became a hit. Really similar plot to Code. Langdon chases around Rome (instead of Paris) with a beautiful woman, seeking clues in Roman sculpture (instead of daVinci paintings) while people try to kill them. Fast-moving plot.
Riveting - Brown has become my new favorite author
Very interesting book.
A prequel of sorts to the DaVinci Code, simpler but still interesting.
When world-renowned Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a mysterious symbol -- seared into the chest of a murdered physicist -- he discovers evidence of the unimaginable: the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati... the most powerful underground organization ever to walk the earth.
The Illuminati has surfaced from the shadows to carry out the final phase of its legendary vendetta against its most hated enemy... the Catholic Church.
Langdon's worst fears are confirmed on the eve of the Vatican's holy conclave, when a messenger of the Illuminati announces he has hidden an unstoppable time bomb at the very heart of Vatican City. With the countdown under way, Langdon jets to Rome to join forces with Vittoria Vetra, a beautiful and mysterious Italian scientist, to assist the Vatican in a desperate bid for survival.
Embarking on a frantic hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals, and even to the heart of the most secretive vault on earth, Langdon and Vetra follow a 400-year old trail of ancient symbols that snakes across Rome toward the long-forgotten Illuminati lair... a secret location that contains the only hope for Vatican salvation.
An explosive international thriller, ANGELS & DEMONS careens from enlightening epiphanies to dark truths as the battle between science and religion turns to war...

Great book.
I really liked this book! Another person told me that they wrote down all the sites listed in this book as part of a group assignment, and then she/they went to see them when she/they went to Italy. I'm going to re-read the book again one day, and do the same thing.
However, the book tells about an organization, CERN, in which, one of the scientists ventures upon a revealing fact, antimatter. Unfortunately, the antimatter is stolen and they think hidden somewhere in the Vatican. So the search is on to find the antimatter before it explodes.

Similar to DaVinci Code. It's about the "symbologist" in a story that predates DVCode.
Fast paced, interesting, a page turner worthey of The DaVinci Code. Wonderful authur.
Another wonderful book by Dan Brown.
I love Dan Brown, I think this one is even better than the Da Vinci Code.
Very Very good until the last couple chapters. I sure was wishing for a different ending. Other than that I liked it better than the DaVinci Code
Fantastic! I liked it better than DaVinci!
this is an excellent book! Much better than The DaVinci Code in my opinion!
OK, the story, if not even a little bit believable, was reasonably entertaining. I don't demand believability!
However, the way this book is written is just unbelievably condescending. Brown feels the need to explain what the BBC is, what a particle accelerator is, insists on translating VERY basic foreign phrases, and gets basic word definitions in repeatedly under the guise of not having his characters know what things are. This wouldn't be so bad if the characters weren't supposed to be a physicist/biologist and a professor/symbologist. (A college professor has never HEARD of CERN?) The 'obscure' tidbits of knowledge that supposedly prove Langdon is brilliant in his field are most often common, pop-culture kinda stuff. He also divides "Christian vs. Pagan" symbology up in a way that people of centuries past did not. (It really would not have been considered shocking for a religious sculptor to also carve pyramids and obelisks, for example. And as of when is a dove a solely 'pagan' symbol?)
Luckily, most of the really irritating bits are in the beginning of the book - once people start dying, things get moving and the definitions fall by the wayside.
Still, I was hoping for a bit more... I didn't find the descriptions of life either at CERN or in the Vatican to be realistic AT ALL. (Oh, and as a library person, the bits dealing with when Langdon is allowed into the archives alone, without the help/supervision of a professional - sorry, but no way. They couldn't go wake up an archivist/librarian? And I don't believe that there is ANY evidence that the Vatican denies access to the materials in its catalog to non-Catholic researchers on the basis of their religion. From what I've read, it operates much like any other restricted archive - you have to have credentials as a qualified researcher, you need to request an appointment and the specific articles you want to see in advance, etc. Standard practice. And I really don't know about suffocating to death in an archival vault in 20 minutes. Unlikely. At least it's not something they ever warned us about in library school.)
I've been to Rome, and the book didn't succeed in bringing me back to the aura or feel of that beautiful and ancient yet modern city.
The religion vs. science debates brought up in the book are certainly timely, but fairly basic - they never really delve that deeply into the issues. Still, there are some really amusing bits, and some unexpected twists and turns in the plot.
Still, I should probably mention that it follows a very similar formula as the Da Vinci Code - if you've read one recently, the other may seem sneakingly familiar....

This was another good read from Mr. Brown. Not quite the Da Vinci Code but almost!
A page-turner, no doubt, but I could see the twist a mile away...

Robert Langdon's first adventure. As usual, it takes place in 24 hours.
Good book - Da Vinci Code is better, but this really gives the main character's background.
NOT as good as Da Vinci Code, or The Rule of Four. Probably better if read before Da Vinci (as written)
Another fabulous book by Dan Brown. I loved it and didn't feel that you would have already had to have read DaVinci Code to enjoy this book.

This book was GOOD. Main character, Robert Langdon, of the da Vinci Code is in this book. Dan Brown says is the 'prequel' to the da Vinci Code and tells the story of symbologist Robert Landon's adventure in THE Vatican City one year before his fateful visit to the Louvre. Gives you a great picture of the Roman Vatican City, which is AWESOME.
Awesome book!! Couldn't turn the pages fast enough, and wow, what twists!
A very likable character is Mr. Langdon! Truly enjoyed this book!
While this was a an exciting book that kept you guessing it had the same flaw as Dan Brown's better known book, "The DaVinci Code" -- it unravels at the end. In trying to provide a "happy" ending where everything works out well, Brown loses the reader as he seems to try to hard to make the edge-of-your-seat feel of the rest of the book carry through.
Good but I was hoping for mor
from Amazon.com's review:
"It takes guts to write a novel that combines an ancient secret brotherhood, the Swiss Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire, a papal conclave, mysterious ambigrams, a plot against the Vatican, a mad scientist in a wheelchair, particles of antimatter, jets that can travel 15,000 miles per hour, crafty assassins, a beautiful Italian physicist, and a Harvard professor of religious iconology. It takes talent to make that novel anything but ridiculous. Kudos to Dan Brown (Digital Fortress) for achieving the nearly impossible. Angels & Demons is a no-holds-barred, pull-out-all-the-stops, breathless tangle of a thriller"

Brown's best.
Well written, plenty of suspence.
Not as good as The Da Vinci Code, but still a provocative novel. Did keep me awake late to read.
GREAT BOOK...really moves fast and I honestly had a very difficult time putting it down. Supposedly this is the book that precedes "The Da Vinci Code", also written by Dan Brown which I am listening to on cd presently.
excellent read
I really enjoyed this book. I'm not sure that I liked it better than The Da Vinci Code, but it is writen with the same theme.
what an absolutely fantastic book!
This book is a page turner inspite of its rediculous story.
If you liked the DaVinci Code, you should like this one.(same author)
A real page turner! Very entertaining, with interesting historical tidbits.
Dan Brown BEFORE the DaVinci Code. It is Robert Langdon't first adventure, and an exciting read if you can get past the gruesome murder at the beginning.
The art aspects are great fun... though he quickly loses focus via one absurd event after another.
Read this BEFORE Davinci Code.
Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a mysterious symbol that has been seared into the chest of a murdered physicist, and to his surprise and horror he discovers that an ancient secret brotherhood has resurfaced.

I really didn't like it I just couldn't get into it
I guess it isn't my type of book it may be for someone else.
I guess it isn't my type of book it may be for someone else.
Slow beginning; the first 100 pages made me seriously consider putting the book down and turning away. Brown's overuse of blatant foreshadowing ("Langley did not know that he would need this information three hours later to survive the night" etc.) is distracting and a terrible way to close each chapter. As the book progresses, the history and descriptions of different art works prove to be quite interesting, but the plot's rather predictable.
An awesome Robert Langdon mystery - even better than DaVinci Code.
Very good read. It's a page turner.
Brown's first attempt at writing the Da Vinci code.
World renowned Harvard sybologist Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a cryptic symbol seared into the chest of a murdered physicist. What he discovers is unimaginable: a deadly vendetta against th Catholic Church by a centuries-old underground organization - the Illuminati.
Classic Dan Brown. I enjoyed it.
A page-turner featuring the same protagonist you met in The Da Vinci Code. Great story about a fast-paced hunt through crypts, catacombs, and cathedrals. Great fun.
Before the Da Vinci Code... This is an equally engaging prequel. His writing is hard to put down as the pace just pulls you into every page. A great story without the controversy of the current book.
Author of Da Vinci Code. World renowed Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a cryptic symbol seared into the chest of a murdered physicist. Desparate to save the Vatican from a powerful time bomb, Langdon joins forces in Rome with the beautiful and mysterious scientist Vittoria Vetra. Disappointing. Same plot as da Vinci Code and poorly editted, however descriptions of Rome are interesting.
Personally, I liked this even better than Da Vinci Code. I would definitely read Angels & Demons first, as it is the first introduction of the main character, Robert Langdon. It is packed with action and info, and never seems to stop until the very end. A great book!
His OTHER book, not as well known as DA VINCI CODE.
Better then the Da Vinci code!
Before The Da Vinci Code, Robert Langdon was called to Rome to help solve a centuries-old vendetta against the Catholic Church. An underground organization - the Illuminati - that all scholars had thought was dead has resurfaced and is killing off scientists and priests. A fast-paced book that is a good read - just remember that it's fiction, not fact.
The "prequel" to _The DaVinci Code_ is also a really good read. Totally worth it.
I enjoyed this book of Dan Brown's, maybe more than the DiVinci Code. He keeps the story moving and uses such neat "landmarks" of art, architechture and history.
Dan Brown's first book about Robert Langdon is as thrilling as the DaVinci Code. Secret tunnels through the Vatican, CERN exploits and secrets keep me on the edge of my seat (or do I mean was a page turner).

Does Dan Brown need introducting? Despite the high acclaim for this and other books, I found it lacking. The ending does not fit the rest of the book - as though he wrote the first 4/5, left it for some time, and then finished the book, giving some key actors different personalities, making the ending all but impossible.
Rest of the book is great - he's a pretty good fiction writer.

a PAGE-TURNER foe sure!!!!
Great sequel to "The Da Vinci Code"
A great book. Would most probably read again. A good suspense book
This is the prequel to "The DaVinci Code" and it is every bit a page turner as it's more popular companion. This novel focus on conspiracies within the Catholic Church and the grab for power that can occur after the death of a pope. A very good beach read!
Excellent prequel to "The DaVinci Code". I personally think it's better than TDVC, but that may be just me.
I enjoyed this more than the DaVinci Code.

Another great book by Brown.
Another great book by Brown.
This book is right over the top with codes, mysterious clues and of course, religious symbolism. Just like DaVinci Code, it does make one wonder about the secret organizations embedded in accepted institutions. A good read but seemingly far fetched.
Fast paced. Good story and characters.
Outstanding!
Great book full of suspense and puzzels! Great read!
I loved this book. I think it was even better than Da Vinci Code!
A novel preceeding "The Davinci Code" by the same author. Very similar in style and a good detective story.
Great suspensful novel. Loved it even more than the DaVinci Code!
Great! fast pqaced narritive. Wild ride for sure. Buckle upo!
As good as the DaVinci Code
If you liked The Davinci Code you will love Angels and Demons! I thought it was better. It is about Robert Langdon's first adventure.

I didnt read this, my mom did. Here is the summary from the back of the book:
World-renowned Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a cryptic symbol seared into the chest of a murdered physicist. What he discovers is unimaginable: a deadly vendetta against the Catholic Church by a centuries old underground organization, the Illuminati. Desperate to save the Vatican from a powerful time bomb, Langdon joins forces in Rome with the beautiful and mysterious scientist Vittoria Vetra. Together they embark on a frantic hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals, and the most secretive vault on earth, the long forgotten Illuminati lair.

After all the hoopla surrounding Dan Brown's book "The DaVinci Code", I just had to get in on it. Everyone said to read "Angels and Demons" first and I'm happy that I did. I thought this was an interesting fast-paced thriller with frequent twists. I highly recommend it.
loved this book...great characters and story line
From the back cover:
An ancient secret brotherhood. A devastating new weapon of destruction. An unthinkable target.

WOW! This isn't the type of book I normally read, but I wanted to read "The DaVinci Code" and a fellow PBS member recommended I read this first! I couldn't put it down! I'm glad I have "The DaVinci Code" already, because I can't wait to read it now!
World renowned Havard symbologist Robert Landon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a cryptic symbol seared into the chest of a murdered physicist. What he discovers is unimaginable: a deadly vendetta againist the Catholic Church by a centuries old underground organization- the Illuminati. A very good story and is a prequel to the Davinci Code.
one word: Damn!
Intriguing, intellectual read - can science and religion truly (and peacefully) co-exist? Plenty of action and thought-provoking material - I could hardly put it down.
Great book, real page turner.
Before The Da Vinci Code but just as exciting. I loved it
I haven't read the DaVinci Code yet, and when I saw this was the book before that one, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. What an interesting, fast paced book! I can't wait to read more of his books.
Overall my reaction is "eh, so it goes". The book seemed to just follow the sleuth as he gets drug around rather than him actually being an active involvement. Look, here's a symbol. Look, here's a body. Look, look, here's a great big pointer! The red herring was reasonably well done (though overdone a bit, as well. I like having things stacked against the wrong character, I don't like having them so shoved at me and the real bad guys hidden quite so well--the point it bothered me was the actions of some of the guards), and I didn't figure out who the bad guy was until late. On the other hand, the hero basically had to have the bad guy handed to him before he figured it out either.
I know it isn't a mystery, it's a thriller, but I still felt the story took place in spite of the main character, which made it harder to be drawn in. He needs more active involvement and less "Oh! Look! I will solve a generations old mystery! In five minutes despite working on it for years!"
Not bad, not great. I also didn't really like the ending with the female lead after looking at the description of The Da Vinci Code and finding it has a different female lead. Not that I'm surprised, but I find it unneeded and irrelevant to the story.

Excellent! I actually liked this book even more than The Da Vinci Code. Enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge and unable to put the book down until the end.
By the author of The DaVinci Code. This is another adventure trail through the catacombs of Rome, deciphering codes to surface an ancient vendetta.
Unfortunately, I just could not get into this book. Not because it wasn't written well, it just did not interest me. I thought the Da Vinci Code was good, but it wasn't the best read for me. I will probably get more out of the movie.

I was really disapointed that Dan Brown has not written more than three books. It was one of those good reads where it is very hard to put down.
This is a good adventure story. It is similar to the DaVinci code but a little more greusome. It made me want to follow their trail through Rome and see all the art and churches for myself.
Robert Langdons first adventure and its a good one
Much better than Da Vinci Code (which is brilliant)
Not quite as good as the DaVinci Code but a very worthwhile read.
Another great book by Dan Brown. I couldn't put this book down. A great and easy read.
I thought Angels and Demons was better than the Da Vinci Code.
Very similar to Da Vinci Code.
Great prequel to the best selling Da Vinci code, this book is also a New York times best seller. It will really get you to thinking!
Trite and trashy...if you like that sort of thing.
A great page turner and interesting plot!
In my opinion Angels and Demons is better than the highly rated Da Vinci Code.
I liked it better than Davinci, probably because I read it first. I like all his books

Not as good as the Da Vinci Code but keeps you guessing. Gives you some thought about the Catholic Church.
prequel to DaVinci Code. page-turner
Same sort of book as the DaVinci Code. I really love the style of Dan Brown's writing. Very hard to put down!
Awsome book, read in 2 days could not put it down!!!!!
Great book!
Great book. Well written, with good use of language and plot. This book is the first in the Robert Langdon series that includes The Da Vinci Code.
Excellent story!!
I couldn't put this down. I had to hide the book so that my research thesis for college would get done. I beleive this is the first ins type of series by the writer of the Davinci Code. One of the best books I have read in a long time.

A wonderful intelligent read!!! It has the predictible Dan Brown formula but is enjoyable anyway!!!!
You've often heard the recommendation that if you liked one certain thing then you'll like another thing? I've found that statement is seldom true and usually only means that the speaker liked both. But in this case I feel I feel confident in saying "If you liked 'The DaVinci Code' you'll like 'Angels and Demons'.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Right up there with his "DaVinci Code"
Not as finely tweaked as Da Vinci Code, but very engrossing with lots of heretical innuendo.
Illuminati fantasy by Dan Brown
A thriller that keeps you up at night turning the pages.
I thought this one better then the Da vinci code.
Very good! I have really enjoyed such a fast-paced book.
GReat book! I liked it better than DaVinci Code.
It was just as captivating for me as The DaVinci Code. I could not put it down!
Another best selling author, Nelson DeMille, wrote that Dan Brown has to be one of the best, smartest, and most accomplished writers in the country.
If you enjoy reading philosophical conflicts between science and religion along with a good story, you need to read this book.

Illuminati attack the Vatican from within....had to stay up until
2am to finish the book...lots of twists/turns

Fast-paced adventure dealing with a secret organization within the Catholic Church.
Even better than The DaVinci Code!
not bad... Liked DaVinchi Code much better. writing is good
Good book, hard to put down in some spots.
Absolutely awesome! The twists and turns will keep you on the edge until the very end.
Wow Great book, got to read DiVinci Code next.
Before THE DE VINCI CODE was broken, the world lay at the mercy of ANGELS AND DEMONS.
I absolutely loved this book! I look forward to reading more Dan Brown!
Excellent, fast paced read!
Mysteries of the world past, present and future.Exciting, heart warming and makes you wonder what is real.
This is my first Dan Brown and it was GREAT!
I liked this book better than Da Vinci Code. A little slow at the beginning, but surprisingly ended up being a great book.
Very interesting story, rivals the Da Vinci Code. Cover a bit worn but still readable.
This book is a prequel to The DaVinci Code and is superior to that book in its plot and style. An exciting original story that held me in suspense throughout.
Angels and Demons was the thriller that I expected from Dan Brown. I also enjoyed the brief historical moments, whether they were true or not. However, it was not the amazing page turner I had grown accustomed to from Dan Brown's other books.
Couldn't put it down - didn't want it to end!
Great book; I couldn't put it down. Even better than the DaVinci Code - if you liked that you'll love this!
A good page turner.
An excellent book that keeps you on your toes the whole time!
This was a great read.
Better then the DaVinci code
Excellent Read!
Entertaining read. I found it more enjoyable than THE DA VINCI CODE -- doesn't run off on so many tangents to teach me the history of everything.
I really liked this faced paced story. It was very much like DaVinci Code with the same main character.
This is the prequel to The Da Vinci Code and establishes the character of Robert Langdon. It has an interesting story and is a quick read. There are a couple of unexpected plot twists. I had not read The Da Vinci Code before reading this so I had no expectation. I enjoyed the book very much.

More twists than an Auntie Anne's pretzel--and you won't see 'em coming!

Good read. Enjoyed it more than Da Vinci Code.
About an ancient secret brotherhood trying to destroy the world. Loved it. Goes great with the davinci code
Wonderful read, Dan Brown is a genius! One of my favorite novels, hands down. Much better than The Da Vinci Code!
Great book!
Better than Da Vinci Code
Will the murderer be caught in time to prevent more murders? One of the best books I have read in a lonnng time. Better than the Da Vinci Code.
I thought that this was better than DaVinci.
***** A must read if you have read or plan to read "The Da Vinci Code"
I thought this was a great book, although not as good as Brown's "The Davinci Code." An entirely captivating novel, this book will hold you until the final page.
The completely thrilling and excellent prequel to Brown's infamous The Da Vinci Code. Follow Robert Langdon's journey across Rome as he seeks to stop a killer and save the heart of Catholicism. Written in the same style as TDVC, A&D is extremely accessible, highly entertaining, and an all-night page-turner.
This was a thrilling book. Many twists and turns. A real page turner
The first book detailing the adventures of Robert Langdon, I thought it to be a more entrancing mystery thriller than the more popular Da Vinci Code. More suspense and better plot line.
Before The Da Vinci Code was broken, the world lay at the mercy of Angels & Demons. Robert Langdon's first adventure. It is a breathless, real-time adventure....Exciting, fast-paced, with an unusually high IQ"
a good thriller - good airport reading. Great female lead character.
This book was a little trite. Not a big Dan Brown fan. No real character development...entirely plot driven.

A ancient secerst brotherhood,a devastating new weapon,an unthinkable target make for an interesting read.
I liked this book much more than I liked Dan Browns much more popular DaVinci Code. This story is very similar. It's a page turning light read, the first time that Robrt Langdon finds himself caught up in mistery. There are detailed descriptions of death and deals with an underground Catholic Church group, which may turn off some readers.
I thought this was too much like The DaVinci Code and it seemed a little slow.
Great adventure !
The prequel to "The DaVinci Code", excellent!
Excellent book. Surprisingly good.
