The author began writing and researching this book in an effort to prove the innocence of Mary Surratt, what she found, through her research, changed her opinion. The book is written as a chronicle of the events leading up to the assassination, the manhunt for John Wilkes Booth, then finally the trial of all the accomplices. It continues to outline the verdict and the sentencing of the accomplices. I, like are most people, was unaware that so many people were involved in Lincoln's assassination.

This is a fascinating book on the assassination. Recommended for all Civil War enthusiasts. One interesting aspect is how the media hasn't changed much in 155 years.
