My great aunt has had cancer of the thyriod since 1965 and we found out friday that it is now terminal. I know she has been in a lot of pain lately and she has really stopped talking back over the summer but I wasnt ready for this.

Her partner of 60+ years is crushed and is in her late 70's so I am leaving my family on Wenesday to go and help out while she enters hospice care.

The thing is I dont know if I can mentally do this again in 2008 my Grandma had complications ater a Triple A repair causing her kidneys to shut down she responded terriably to dialysis and after 11 months they found that the Triple A was back 1 moth later it ruptured and she was in hospice for 3 days as she slowly bled to death internally.

The hospice last time was incrediably nice but the 11 months of watching some you love slowly die was hard... I know her cancer is untreatable (it is in the spine and in her lungs) but the doctor gave a 6 months - 12 months time frame (which I know depends on the person) I am just worried about have to watch it all over again, worried about my Grandfather who just lost his wife two years ago and watch my other aunt lose her partner.

Thanks for listening

Jennifer,
I'm sorry for what you and your family are going through.  God doesn't give us more than we can handle.  Strength and courage to show support and love for your great aunt is within you, despite your inner pain,  sorrow and fear.  All I can offer is prayers for you, your great aunt, and your relatives.  They're fortunate to have a caring family member like you with them at this sad and stressful time to comfort them.  I wish you peace.

hugs Jennifer..my dad's been doing treatments for carcinoid disease/cancer for the past 9 yrs and now my mom has a large mass in her brain they're going to biopsy..I'm already dreading a double whammy and am scared to death..I don't know how to take charge of anything..my mom was pretty controlling and pretty much did it all and now we're lost. it's harder I think when it's dragged out and you have tosee the suffering. I pray for strength for you and good thoughts.
