Hello all!

I am looking for suggestions of authors whose last names start with I, Q, U, X, Y or Z.

I keep a list of books I've read, alphabetical by author's last name and the above letters are grossly under-represented so any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

there was an English author whose last name was hyphenated Quiller-Couch. Not sure if I spelled that right. another guy I think maybe Mexican is Luis Alberto Urrea. His book The Devil's Highway is recommended.

Ah, I love someone who picks their next book by thinking outside the box.  coollaugh

I've linked below to each letter you asked about in Fantastic Fiction and then added some of those listed I'm familiar with.  The nice thing about the Fantastic Fiction site is it lists the numbers of published works by each author, the genres they write in, and how popular they are.

Letter I:   I've read and enjoyed books by Iles, John Irving, Judith Ivory and a new and coming author Eowyn Ivey has written two extraordinary books that I've enjoyed immensly.   If you're into non-fiction about tech, a year or so I read the book The Innovators: How a Group of Hackers, Geniuses, and Geeks Created the Digital Revolution by Walter Isaacson and thought it was really good.

Letter Q:  Amanda Quick, Ellery Queen, Julia Quinn (lots of Quinn authors, I wonder why?)

Letter U:  John Updike and Leon Uris.  I'm thinking of revisiting some of Uris's work, especially his Trinity

Letter X:  LOL, only one author offered up here, whom I have not read.

Letter Y:  The only one here I remember reading is Frank Yerby and that was years and years ago.

Letter Z:  Apparently I'm not too much into Z authors, either.  Oops, I missed Zevin.  I read (okay, okay already blush) his her The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry earlier this year and it was excellent.

I would try fantastic fiction uk website.  There are about a million authors and lots of every letter starting last name.  Gotta go look for a couple of the books RJVAGABOND just recommended.....

Thanks for the suggestions!

I have read some of the authors suggested above (Zevin, Quick, Quinn, Urrea) but I will have to check out the other ones.

If you think of any more please let me know!
