Planning a trip to Oahu, Hawaii in October for ten days.........any suggestions for the perfect novel to read while on a beach/tropical vacation?  Nothing too deep, this is a vacation.  ALOHA!

Theres a paranormal romance Anthology called Mysteria its a piece of pure fluff but its well written fluff and really a fun and cute read. Also I find that YA novels are good for light reads and sometimes written better than "light" reads geared towards adults. One of my faves is the Vampire Plague books by Sabastian Rooke about a group of teens who fight vampires in the late 1800's.

I liked reading Jennifer Weiner's Good in Bed last time I went on a beach vacation.  I usually don't read chick-lit, so this was nice and fluffy for me...I could have a beer or two while reading it lol.  :)

Chris, I just bought Mysteria this weekend for .25 at a used books store. Glad to hear it is good.  Lynn, anything by Melissa Nathan I consider a good beach read.  She has become one of my favorite authors.

Have fun on vacation,

Melissa

OUT OF BODY, by Thomas Baum is excellent!  It's a chilling, twilight-zone thriller."  I normally shun the paranormal stuff, but this was a great read!  A few years back,  PEOPLE magazine rated this novel as a "great beach book!"

Wishing you all the best and happy vacation reading!

If you like reading about cooking, food or the restaurant business, Anthony Bourdain's "Kitchen Confidential" is a great guilty read!

Have an extra mai-tai for the rest of us!

Thanks for the input.............I'm looking forward to leisurely reading.......and I'll have a Mai-Tai for you.........or two.....or three.  This is a combination honeymoon/34th wedding anniversary trip................so most of my reading will probably be on the plane trip while hubby snoozes..........he usually sleeps on the flight while I read..............but its going to be a great trip..........

ALOHA!!

My fave beach read would be "Blue Bistro"...or maybe "THE Blue Bistro" by Elin Hildebrant.   It takes place on Nantucket during the summer.  The main character gets a job at a restaurant there and has a romance with the owner.  There is much more than just this storyline, though...but won't say more!   I enjoyed the light read but also enjoyed the restaurant part-I am a sucker for books about food or restaurants!

I always find myself reading Marian Keyes at the beach.  I'm not quite sure why, but she's funny and they're always easy reads.  Enjoy!

Loved, loved, loved The Reading Group by Elizabeth Noble. I read it while on vacation at the beach.

Good In Bed is a great summer beach read.  Another summer book that I read last year on vacation was The Dogs of Babel. Have a wonderful vacation!

This summer when we went to Daytona for a week I read quite a few books but my favorites were In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner and Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen.  Both are super fast reads and very entertaining.  Hope you have a wonderful trip and happy early anniversary :)

I recently started reading/listending to the murder mysteries by Kate White (the editor in chief of Cosmo.)  I'm really loving the heroine Bailey. :)
