I have lots of ice cream cookbooks and this is, by far, the best one. The recipes are easy to make and delicious. Although you won't find flat-freezing instructions in this book, the recipes come out great even if you don't have an ice cream maker (although there is a lot more work to it, of course). If you don't know how to make ice cream without an ice cream maker, it is worth your while to learn. It's very simple and a wonderful activity to do with the kids - in addition to reading a recipe, kids practice motor skills, telling time, learning responsibility, generosity, and sharing. There is nothing better to do on a hot day in July than to make some ice cream in the morning to make cones that afternoon while sitting out on the porch with the family. Get back to basics...make your own ice cream!
