I recently recycled a scanner, TV, and a bunch of old gift cards at Best Buy. It really gave me that good, not-throwing-junk-in-the-landfill feeling and I thought I'd try to let more people know about it.

What Best Buy will Recycle, from earth911.com:

-Televisions and monitors up to 32 inches

- VCR and DVD players

- Cell phones

- Computers

- Accessories including keyboards, mice and remotes

There is a $10 charge for televisions, CRTs, monitors and laptops, though consumers will receive a $10 Best Buy gift card in exchange. Televisions and monitors larger than 32 inches, console televisions, items containing Freon, microwaves and other appliances are not accepted.

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for posting this information - I was not aware of Best Buy's recycling program, & know that I'll avail myself of such, now that I do...

FWIW, I did a quick search, & found the information in the following link useful - it clarifies a few aspects of the program, & also conveys its origin:

Thanks again!
