I just got back into this type of mystery....had never heard them called cozy mysteries before join PBS....

Recently read Delilah Doolittle and the Purloined Pooch by Patricia Guiver.  Part of the Pet Detective Mystery series.  Delilah is a middle-aged English woman living in CA

In the back of her book I also found a list of other pet themed cozy mysteries if any one is interested.  I have not yet had the change to get or read any of them.

Thanks for all the great ideas for cozy mysteries! I really can "forget my troubles and just get happy" (as the song almost says) when I have a cozy mystery to read.  Actually I can read one in a day or maybe two days if I only read at night. However, since I retired, I have lots of time to read, and I love every moment of it!!

I'm just finishing all of Monica Ferris's books, and I love the yarn shop crowd!! Hope she writes many more!!

I'm not sure if these would fit the "cozy mystery" term but I really enjoyed them!

P.B. Ryan's series featuring the Nell Sweeney character.

I love to read Maddy Hunter, Laura Levine (Jaine Austen mysteries), Sharon Kahn ( Never Nosh a Motza Ball) and Cynthia Baxter ( she is a mobile vet).  Thanks for the suggestions, always on the look out for new cozies to read.

No list of cozies could be complete without mentioning

the Aunt Dimity series by Nancy Atherton. I didn't read them in order, but it is best if you do so.

Mentioned by others by worth mentioning again:

The Hamish Macbeth series and Agatha Raisin series by MC Beaton.

These are "American cozies" - set in America:

Anne George's Southern Sisters mysteries. Laugh out loud funny!

Joan Hess' Maggody series

Tim Myer's all of his series - the Soapmaking series, the Candle makers series and, especially, the Lighthouse Inn series.

you also must try earlene fowler she is a cowgirl and runs a museum that deals in crafts especially quilts. it is a series and begins with  fool's puzzle and thenIrish chain and thenkansas troubles, goose in the pond and dove in the window . I have read all these and am waiting for more. If you like books as much as I then you must try John dunnings series abouy an ex cop who retires and becomes a book dealer.

I love monica ferris and read her entire series all of aunt dimity.

some one who loves archeology should read the series,by lynn hamiliton, it starts with (the xibalba murders 0 not a cozy but not gruesome. Charlaine harris Shakespeare's series( shakesspear is the name of the town,Donna andrews computer series only four right now but I hope to see more soon, the first is you've got murder, then click here for murder, then access denied and xdelete all suspects. It is about a computer that gains sentience and they are well done stories. One more is Jasmine galenorn her series is is a little ghostly but not overdone. read all five of hers, the first one is Ghost of a chance.

I am done for now I have been reading for more years than I care to count and I have a rotten memory so I write down all the books I read and like. So believe me I could go on and on.

Check out Susan Wittig Albert's awesome China Bayles Herb Mysteries. The main character is China who was a former prosecutor in Texas. She gets fed up with her career and starts another one when she opens an herb shop in the Texas Hill Country. I read her books any time I'm home sick for the hill country since now I live in the Midwest. Read them, they're awesome!

Lucila, I just found out about the China Bayles Mysteries a couple of weeks ago.  I have read the first 2 in the series and really enjoyed them!  I love reading about one of my favorite areas of Texas.

In fact in the 2nd book it mentioned the Devil's Backbone and just this Saturday we rode our motorcycle on it.  I'm looking forward to reading all of these books!

There are the Home Repair is Homicide series from Sarah Graves, set in Eastport, Maine and the Diane Mott Davidson ones (catering).

I'm thinking of another one right now, too....but my mind is blanking on me. Katherine Hall Page, maybe? Yup, just checked, that's her name. Those are fun.

I have a 2year old. Reading anything too in depth doesn't cut it right now but those I can still read and have an ear open.

I like the China Bayles herbal mysteries and have read almost all of them. Susan has a nice website   http://mysterypartners.com/  . The Robin Paige mysteries are written by her and her husband Bill Albert and are set around the turn of the century(1900). The stories include people and inventions of time period and are really interesting.

Hey!! You have sent me lots of great authors and book ideas!!! Has anyone read Billie Lott's The Honk and Holler Opening Soon?? It is soo different, and I could hardly believe that I liked it - actually, by the time I finished it, I loved it!!! Read some of the reviews and try it!

And keep this going! I love to find new authors. Right now  I am reading The Kalahari Typing School for Men (No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency) by Alexander McCall Smith, and it is so good. Light reading but a touch of humor on each page! Start with the first one, #1 Ladies' Detective Agency to see if you like the writing style.

Just finished reading Artists in Crime by Ngaio Marsh, recommended by one of you, and it kept my interest 'til the last page to solve the crime!!

Read on, read on and on!!   Lulie

Has anyone read the Annabelle Archer series by Laura Durham? Better Off Wed is the first & the second is For Better or Hearse. Are they any good?

I love the Lucy Stone series & also the Abby Cooper series. Another that is quite good is the Elizabeth Chase Mysteries By Martha C. Lawrence. They are about a psychic P.I., similar to Abby Cooper.

I would like to recommend Patricia Sprinkle.  Both her Sheila Travis series and her Judge Maclauren Yarbourough series.

BTW in the Daheim B & B series the two women are cousins.  Daheim also writes the Emma Lord series about a newspaper editor, The Alpine .......... .  Both of these are favorites of mine.

And how can you go without mentioning Uncle Louie, a black handsome cat, a PI who is very with it. All titles start "Cat on a ........." and then go up one more letter [ie: Cat in a Kiwi Con and the next Cat in a Leopard...] by Carole Nelson Douglas
