This was just an ok book; a fast read. The book plods on throughout the story and nothing really interesting happens until you get to about 300 pages in. In a book of roughly 400 pages, that sucks! The last 100 pages then fly by in a whirl of activity and boom, the book ends.

I really enjoyed this nice romance about two real people (She worries about what to wear and then worries that she shouldn't be worrying about what to wear. He can handle being sheriff but gets tongue-tied when talking to the woman he likes.) falling in love. The small town and secondary characters add a lot, and it seems pretty clear that the next book will be his half-brother and her best friend falling in love. I'm looking forward to it!

Miller takes her time to tell her stories about mundane people falling in love. It is very simple and nothing outrageous happens. Yet it is enchanting.

The description of book is slightly misleading. Slade doesn't fall for Joselyn until after they meet up as adults again and his stepdaughter is not rebellious at all. Both characters work on their issues separately and find resolution in their own way. The fact they hook up is kind of just an aside.

Sweet story with more than enough of a lead towards the other books in the series: Hutch (Slade's brother) and Kendra (Joselyn's best friend) plus a few other possibilities.

Another one of LLM's great cowboys. I really like her brother/family books and how they work together and fight together.
