This has got to be one of my all time favorites. I read this book for the first time about 14 years ago. This is my third copy - I have lent two others out and they have never been returned! That rarely ever happens to me (I am very careful who borrows my books!) This one is staying on my shelf! No Lending! Shy, gawky plantation daughter + indentured servant = great "old school" romance. My 20 year old daughter has read this book and loves it as well and now has her own copy ( that she will not lend out!)

This is one of the best books I have read in a long time.

The backdrop is a plantation and the author goes into depth about the everyday life of living on a plantation including how different remedies were used for people who were either sick or injured.

Of course there is a fabulous love story throughout the book that keeps you guessing.

Great read!
