Generally excellent advice, but a bit unpolished in places. This is perhaps to be expected, as Boglehead forum members contributed to the book as individual chapter authors.

In several places the book touches on potential pitfalls and benefits without providing enough explanatory depth to understand the issue, suggesting you consult your tax advisor or the IRS web site for more details. I would have liked to see more information on HSA plans, for example.

The Boglehead's Guide to Retirement Planning does cover a wealth of information on a wide range of retirement and estate planning topics. In general it sticks to the Boglehead principles, with the possible exception of the insurance chapter, where the chapter author gives more credence to whole life insurance than deserved.

Despite these minor blemishes, The Boglehead's Guide to Retirement Planning is essential reading for those approaching or already in retirement.
