Student achievement rises when teachers systematically teach vocabulary associated with the content. This book explains a method for incorporating subject matter vocabulary into the instruction. It suggests that the students keep vocabulary notebooks, and includes many ways of using the notebooks and practicing the vocabulary words. The second half of the book is a list of vocabulary terms for various subject areas.

As a reading specialist, I found this book invaluable. It is a fabulous resource for essential vocabulary words from beginning readers to adults, even ESL. It includes graded word lists, and chapters with useful ideas for how to teach words in context, in games and more.
