This is a great book, especially for younger girls. Peg Kehret is a great author, and I think this is one of her better books.

This book is especially good for children in grades 4-7, not very hard, it's a pretty short book.

But when she is caught and sentenced to twenty hours of volunteer work at the humane society, she's sure she's blown her chance at a scholarship. Kit doesn't mind volunteering at the humane society; she knows how it feels to be stuck in a cage like those animals.
