Before this one, all of the Masuto novels were mysteries, but this one is a spy thriller, as it involves an international conspiracy. I don't particularly like thrillers, except by a few authors. I especially don't like thrillers where the fate of the entire world is in the hands of just one or a few people against the evil conspiracy and somehow they always manage to prevail. Fortunately, this one isn't like that. And I found I had to finish it quickly so I knew what the hell was going on.
Plus, I've liked almost everything Howard Fast ever wrote, and he wrote the Masuto series under the pseudonym of E.V. Cunningham.
