A wonderful Christmas story that really gets you in the holiday spirit! It's a bit of a twist on the Mary and Joseph story as a young couple end up stranded in their bus at a town called Christmas Valley, and of course the young couple are expecting. But along comes a grumpy old woman named Mrytle who turns the town upside down and changes the town's way of thinking. A rather easy book to read as the story line flows smoothly and it keeps you entertained. A perfect read for this Christmas that reminds us that it doesn't matter how much money we have, what matters is what's in our hearts, and what we're willing to do for others, be it opening up our home or just inviting someone over for a meal.

This is a short but nice read. It is about people in the small town of Christmas Valley. A couple opens their bed and breakfast to total strangers over the holidays. They find themselves helping out others and finding the true meaning of biblical "angels" and doing God's work. It includes small town humor, an awnry house guest, and a young couple in need of love and companionship.

Melody Carlson has written a delightful story for the holidays in "The Christmas Bus". The books opens by introducing us to the small Oregon town called Christmas Valley. In an attempt to save this fledgling town, the town's people have decided to promote it as a Christmas all year long destination. Edith and Charles Ryan own the town's bed and breakfast. Edith eagerly anticipates each holiday season when their four grown children come home. This year however, the kids and their families can't make it. Edith moves from feelings of holiday sadness to holiday gladness with a plan to celebrate the season. She opens the inn up to guests at a time when they are normally closed to visitors. The guests who arrive and the threads of their lives shared, all weave together to make this a wonderful holiday read. We are left with gentle reminders of the one true meaning of Christmas.

This brief story is a little bit predictable--but in a feel-good way. The story made an enjoyable warm-and-fuzzy Christmas read in between longer books on my list. I recommend this story to folks who are looking for a relaxing read to help them find their Christmas spirit.
