More than 100,000 copies sold—now extensively expanded, revised, and repackaged! In many Native American traditions, animals are considered to be our older, wiser brothers and sisters. Their behavior can teach us to better understand ourselves, heal old wounds, adapt to new situations, or warn us of dangers. Dancing Ot...  more » shows us how to interpret our physical and spiritual encounters with animals in ways that enable us to achieve balance in the natural world. This colorfully illustrated, easy-to-reference book presents little known facts about the habits of fifty-eight North American animals, including their strengths and vulnerabilities. By using these ancient animal energies, we are guided gently through life's challenges and obstacles. We may soar with the eagle and run with the wolves, yet even the earthworm has something to teach us. Gary and Sherry share what they've learned from Native American elders and from their own personal journeys to remind readers of the inherent bond that humans have with all things in nature. 50 color photographs.

The Native American way of looking at the world has a tremendous amount to offer, but it can be difficult for those not raised in the culture to access. This book attempts, and succeeds, at helping to bridge that divide. It allows those who were raised as most most of us were to get a glimpse of how we can look at the world though different eyes. It so much more than just an informative and interesting way of interpreting at our animal encounters, though it does that very well. The book has stories and perspectives that will help the reader expand their ways of looking at Creation so that we can bring some of the sacred and mysterious into our everyday, and enrich our lives for the good of the planet. Highly recommended!
