There was very little plot to this book, and much of the language was ridiculous - and occasionally too foul without need.

this is the newest by Bertrice Small. Lots of political intrigue and the story is good, if not her most exciting work. She always keeps you involved till the last page!

I understand the need for a back story. Why did it take over 200 pages to meet the hero? Adair fell in love with her second husband, who would have been a terrific hero. If the story is about Conal Bruce and Adiar then don't waste your time with 200+ pages of Adair growing up, marrying, widowed, marrying again, widowed AGAIN! Don't even get me started on the "honey love" I understand this author must have had something to be published. I've been reading romances for YEARS and years...I just feel like I wasted my $$. Conal Bruce is not attractive to me. I was more attracted to her dead husband, Andrew.

I give it 3 stars because I love the cover picture. I was interested for a while, trying my best...I quit this book after 240 pages. On to a Karen Marie Moning book -- now there's a story teller!

From Booklist
After Lancastrians murder her parents, young Adair Radcliffe and her nurse seek the protection of King Edward IV, Adair's biological father. Ten years later Adair returns to her ancestral home of Stanton Hall hoping to avoid the marriage the king has arranged for her. Instead, Adair finds herself first wed in name only to Llywelyn FitzTudor, and then later married again by her own choice to Andrew Lynbridge. When Andrew is killed fighting for King Richard III, England's new King Henry VII takes both Adair's title and estate away. Adair returns to Stanton to rebuild her life but is soon taken captive by the Scots, who sell her to Conal Bruce, the laird of Cleit. Conal thinks he has finally found a new housekeeper and mistress, never expecting that Adair will settle for nothing less than wife. With its proud, stubborn, beautiful heroine and richly detailed plot packed with history, adventure, and sexy, passionate romance, A Dangerous Love is classic Small. John Charles

In A Dangerous Love, Bertrice Small takes us to England during the War of the Roses. Adair Radcliffe's parents are killed during the Civil War. She is brought up at the English Court. When she is betrothed by the King to a son of a Lancastrian lord, she runs back to her home. Adair starts to rebuild her home and her life. During a border raid, she is taken as hostage by Scottish raiders and sold into servitude. This is where Small starts to weave her magic. Adair and the border lord Conal Bruce start to fall in love and sparks fly. Small does not let the reader down in describing the romantic encounters. This is Book 1 of the The Border Chronicles. The first two books are tied by the Conal Bruce family, but they can each stand alone.
