While at the library today, I happened upon several books in David Handler's Berger and Mitry series. I'm not familiar with either this author or his books, so I'm a bit curious. Has anyone read them? Any opinions?

I like this series a lot! It's quirky--involves a couple, who aren't a couple at first...Berger is a pudgy white Jewish guy, a film reviewer. Mitry is a bodacious African-American policewoman; they meet in the first book during a murder investigation and it goes from there. I have a couple left in the series to catch up, but I've enjoyed them all.

I should add, it's not what you would call a "romance" book at all--their couplehood is handled quite well and the focus of the stories remains the mysteries and the people.
