Interesting read, a little too much voodoo for me. Also started out to be a sexy read but never followed through. Enjoyable but not a keeper for me. Would read the author again tho.

I really enjoyed this fun paranormal read!

When Nicki Styx has a near-death experience after suffering from heretofore unknown heart problems, she's sent back with the message "do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

That sounded great, and the doctor who saved her life in the ER looks pretty dang good, too. But soon Nicki finds out just exactly what that whole "Golden Rule" stuff was about. The spirits of people recently departed, who have unfinished business on Earth, seem drawn to Nicki. And they all want her to solve their problems.

Some of these ghosts/spirits are friendly, some are funny, and some, like the spirit of Caprice Dumaine, seem downright evil. It seems Caprice was involved in some truly witchy voodoo, and now it's up to Nicki, along with Caprice's Granny Julep, to set things right.

This was a fast, breezy read that has some laugh-out-loud moments, along with some truly creepy ones. Although the issues with Dr. Joe, Nicki's savior/boyfriend at first seemed a little too far out there (even more than seeing dead people!!), I was interested in this side plot by the end of the book.

I can't wait for the next book in the series!

It's a bit fluffy... not too fluffy. It's a bit serious... but not too serious. It's a bit creepy, but not too creepy.
If you get this book thinking it'll be a Serious Work, then you'll be disappointed.

But if you tend to like light-hearted books, "paranormals" or "cozies," you're going to be delighted, because this is a great
example of the genre and very well written.

The story line is fascinating and not too simple and not too complex. There are hints that will clearly be built on in future
books. The characters are charming, and not more than a touch clichéd. Yes, there's a gay best friend... but unlike the gay
best friends in every other series, he's believable, with a real personality, not a cardboard cutout stand-in who says
"Girlfriend" a lot.

This is one you can sink your teeth into, without grimacing every time the author makes a sophomoric writing mistake.
Because, frankly, she *doesn't make* those sophomoric mistakes that plague these types of series.

There is a romantic side-plot, but the main story is a mystery. I think both Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance readers
will enjoy it. Highly recommend as a lighter paranormal.

These characters are fabulous and easy to love. Interesting premise for this series. Can't imagine how frightening it would be to see and speak to the dead. Finding out there is a light to follow at the end of life adds great appeal.

A fun series. The mysteries of her birth are not answered in first bk. So keep reading!
