Volume II of "The Chronicles of Deryni" trilogy, called "Deryni Chechmate". King Kelson in plot and counterplots, magic and church priests, honor and dishonor, while the few remaining Deryni are hunted to their end. Vol I "Deryni Rising" and III "High Deryni" are the remaining titles. Lots of twists, lots of surprises, you'll have a hard time putting any of these three books down. If you read Vol II, you'll have to have the remainders. Additionally, there is "The Deryni Archives" which has seven short stories covering 200 years of 'history'. Ms Kurtz has done an excellent job with laying these stories out.
