For ages 10 & older, a ripping good mystery set in ancient Rome! Really intelligent, with some good jokes but serious at the same time. Some funny illustrations, too. We all loved it!

Written in Germany in 1956 - this translation has been so popular with older elementary school age students and their parents it has gone through several printings. This book is wonderful fun. The author, who first wrote stories to entertain his own children, really knows both his history and his characters.

This is a classic in every sense of the word. A group of schoolboys in ancient Rome sets out to solve a series of mysteries -- and evading serious trouble while doing so. Well-written, exciting, funny, and sneakily informative about imperial Rome.

This is a fun book to read. It's set in ancient Rome and the protagonists are mischievous and act just like school boys from modern times.
