Jeanne Kalogridis gives a unique outlook on Cathrine De Medici, Queen of France, among other titles. I knew next to nothing concerning the history of this woman, so everything I read was new to me. Obviously the book is fiction, and is written as such, but in the same token, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

I enjoyed this book because Ms. Kalogridis wrote unapologetically about the ruthless woman that controlled France for so many years. She threw in a bit of intrigue, a smidge of the dark arts, a few historical figures, and a tale was woven, that for me, was hard to put down.

This was my first book by this author, but I will definitely be checking out her others.

Very well written and moved so fast! I enjoyed all the court intrigue. It also was nice as I visited many of the places in the book.
