Hi, are there any devotional writers here, looking for others to talk with and share about devotional writing- thanks! Jody M in FL Last Edited on: 1/9/14 8:27 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I am not a devotional writer now, but have always wanted to try it. Does that count? My writing in the past has been puppet ministry plays and Sunday school songs. Have you been published? I would be a rank newcomer but would love the chance to have someone to talk to about It. Perhaps we could even discuss devotionals we've read and why we like them? |

Hi Jody and Betty, I am a devotional writer. I had some of mine published in a small anthology called Penned from the Heart. Right now, I am undergoing edits with a publisher for a devotional type book that is based on some of David's Psalms. It has taken a long time and we are nearing the end of the edits for the stories themselves. I would enjoy meeting up with you all. Feel free to pm if you like. Megan |

Hi Betty and Megan, thanks for writing- would love to connect about writing devotionals. Sounds like we could encourage one another. I have had some devotionals published in The Covenant Home Altar, The Secret Place- and also some devotionals on the topic of adoption that have been published online. I am looking for devotional books that have an Action step- giving the reader and Action idea or suggestion to relate to the devotion. Do you know of any? Betty- the best way to begin devotion writing is reading different devotionals, checking out devotionals from your church or public library and even finding some books that are classics or best seller or current popular ones. Then practice writing short ones and keep editing them and rereading them. Use a true life story- an object lesson that can relate to a biblical truth.
