This is the tale of a fight between the British and Spanish fleets near Trafalgar in October, 1796. Action is gripping and exciting, the writing very graphic and convincing. Ramage might well be the successor to C. S. Forester's Horatio Hornblower. --Boston Globe

I found this to be an excellent novel of the Battle of St. Vincent 1797... It is well written by a man who owned a 54 foot sailboat that sailed in the Caribbean Sea. There is a description of an Atlantic Gale off of the Straits of Gibraltar that will run chills up your spin, particularly for those who have been out There.... The main character, Nicholas Ramage, is well founded
