The author gives a great overview of the types of dutch ovens available; her advice on thrift store purchases was spot-on. She also had nutritional information, which was good because a number of the recipes were high in sodium. However, I can see how to reduce the sodium in most of the recipes. Generally, I didn't see any weird ingredients that people haven't heard of before.

In the Vegetarian Section, the Pasta e Fagioli Soup sounds delicious, even though the sodium clocks in at 3048 mg per serving. Overall, I was surprised to see how useful my dutch oven could be (it often sits in a closet). One thing this cookbook has done is open my eyes to the variety of foods that can be cooked in a dutch oven.
