This was one of the most interesting audiobooks I've listened to. While it is fiction, it had quotes from personal journals, diaries and reports written by the people who lived through this grave time. I had no prior knowledge of how women were treated during this time period. It isn't a big romance novel, the girl loves her lineback dun horse more than the Union major or so it seems.
