This is such a well-written book for kids. It has all the essential points without any fluff. It starts with the Stone Age and early man and moves smoothly through various civilizations to the Age of Discovery. The lessons build on each other methodically and understandably. There are activities and quizzes to test understanding of the material.

This series of books by Captivating History is primed for homeschooling. However, everyone who reads this will come away with a new appreciation of European history. I was stunned to learn that Europe has two percent of the earth's landmass. Europe may have insignificant real estate, but it created so much history. Note there is also a European History, Vol. 2.
