This is probably the 6th "Jack Reacher" novel that I have read, and it did not disappoint. I could not put the book down! Lots of interesting facts(?) about the secret service - at least they sound plausible.

Hooked from the first sentence. Jack Reacher has to find an assassin. I love these books. The character development keeps me coming back.

The Reacher books have a certain dour helplessness to them. They read like what I imagine a good Western would be like, if I'd ever read a Western. They could almost pass muster for Russian literature, except that they generally have happy endings to at least some of the narrative threads. For all that, they're excellent books, if you're into moderate plot complexity in the thriller genre and don't care overmuch for extremes of character development. Really good light reading.

Reacher elbows a couple of guys in the head, but only shoots one guy. He's becoming quite restrained as he ages.

I'm reading the Jack Reacher series in order, and this is hands down my favorite so far. The Secret Service has always fascinated me, which no doubt played a factor in my enjoyment of the book, and I could barely put it down. This book also made me very appreciative that I had read the books in order and understood his past.

As always with Lee Child's Reacher books, a great read.

Another good Lee Child read. I've tried to read these in order, though, and feel the prior 5 are better. This one gets a bit too hung up on inconsequential details, but they're "skippable."

Book six in the series, and the character is starting to wear a little thin. But, still a good read if you are a fan.

"Without Fail" was definitely better that "Echo Burning" but still felt a little short changed on the reasons behind the big mystery. I really still like the way Child describes the characters and their back stories and with each novel, we learn a little bit more and more about Reacher and his life before he became a drifter.

I still think it was an exciting book but I'll have to pause on the series for a bit. Like I mentioned in my other review of "Echo Burning", I'm beginning to predict when someone is going to say "So?", which is a easy way of explaining the plot of the story. No worries though, I've seen that technique in other stories and series.

But I'll always be in love with Jack Reacher. =)

The best Reacher book yet. He works with the Secret Service to stop an assignation attempt on the Vice President.
