English village with all the personalities, secrets and intrigue that pull us into the story. These characters have a shared past and a puzzling present, and Holbrook does a great job of weaving these together as the story progresses.

I liked everything about this book except the characters who turn out to be the ones who will take the series forward. Oh, well. This one is a real page turner and still entitled to four-and-a-half stars.
