I was apprehensive on reading this book because of the title alone. It is a hard subject to read about, yes it has some dark parts and faces the realities of the life of a porn writer and their families. That being said, it is really a good book. Chris does not tip toe around the subject and yet does not go over the top with descriptions or subject matter. His Father was a horrible human being but I can't help to wonder throughout the whole book what happened to him in his childhood to make him the man he was. In my book Chris Offutt is a survivor as well as his Mother and siblings.
