I came across this book and fell in love. The author is so witty and combines fascinating facts on French culture and history with his real life attempts to master French in mid-life. He tries Rosetta Stone, "meet ups" in French, and in the end an intensive 2 weeks of French in France at a school that teaches diplomats and business people. He's so modest throughout the book, and we meet his family and their take on his experience. I have now started to read "The $64.00 Tomato" about gardening, another thing we have in common. I know he'll give me the facts, because he does his research, but will make it a funny read.
