I enjoyed this book. Although it is a little different than some of Dorothea Benton Frank's books and took a little bit to get into it I felt it was a good read. I would suggest reading the author's nopte in the back of the book before you start. It will give you a little insight into the connection Dorothea felt with these people she is writing about. There is real life history behind this story.

Too bland and predictable for me. Not something I would normally read but it was given to me by an aunt who loved it. She would probably have rated it a 4 1/2.

Cate loses everything and travels home to Folly Beach to be near her family and try to rebuild her life. I usually enjoy these Lowcountry tales but the last few ones haven't been my favorites. I did enjoy the locale but that's about it. This one just didn't ring true....

This book is another excellent story by Dorothea
Benton Frank! I love reading about the places that I have had the pleasure of visiting. I walked on Folly Beach & picked up seashells a few months ago. I had lunch on the pier with my husband and wondered about the people that were fortunate enough to grow up and live in such a beautiful place. This book has brought the characters to life and only makes me wish that I had read it before my visit. I could have visualized more about the story as it unfolded, taking me back to a more simpler time in history! Excellent read!! I would highly recommend it!!
