I hadn't read a Grisham novel in some time but after reading this collection of stories, I may seek out more of his work. I thought these stories were all superb! The stories were full of strong characters, great story lines, humor and some unexpected twists. I enjoyed every one of them immensely and would whole-heartedly recommend this collection. I know when I have read story collections in the past, some of them may be good buts others don't quite hit the mark - not the case with this collection.

This an excellent collection of short stories. If you are a Grisham fan, you will love these. If you are not familiar with his work, you will become a fan almost immediately. Some are very quick reads, others are a bit longer, but guaranteed you will laugh and cry, and have a thoroughly good time with this book.

This is short stories of John Grisham, easy to read and you can able read one story a day if you don't have time. Some of the stories are humourous and clamorous. The one that hit me the most is Casino...I am enjoying this book and hope to find more book like this..

I wasn't sure that I would like these short stories as well as his full length novels, and although the story lines were fairly interesting, they mostly left me feeling unsatisfied. I am finally reading
The Partner, which I am really enjoying, so I will probably stay with his novels.

Good, fast read. Very different from what I would expect from a Grisham book - - very enjoyable!

Excellent look at impoverished families in the South. Real world and detailed, these stories bring the characters to life in a way that even the despicable ones become admirable in some way. Quick and entertaining read.

#1 New York Times bestselling author John Grisham takes us back to Ford County, Mississippi, the setting of his first novel, A Time To Kill. This riveting collection of short stories features an unforgettable cast of characters: Wheelchair-bound Inez Graney and her two older sons embark on a bizarre road trip through the Mississippi Delta to visit Inez's youngest son, Raymond - on death row. A hard-drinking, low-grossing divorce lawyer fed up with his wife, his life, and the law plans a drastic escape after an unexpected phone call. A quiet, unassuming data collector sets out to bring down a flashy casino owner with his skill at blackjack - as payback for the theft of his wife. A stalker hunts victims in a retirement home, a lawyer confronts a vengeful adversary from the past, and a young man from a prominent family is driven off by scandal and fear - but finds unexpected redemption on the wrong side of the tracks. Often hilarious, frequently moving, and always entertaining, this collection makes it abundantly clear why John Grisham is our most popular storyteller.

I'm not a John Grisham Courtroom Drama fan but I did enjoy reading Ford County. This book is a series of short stories some humorous and others tragic. Some tales are better than others but none are mundane or boring. They all held my interest and offered something to mull over. It was a quick read.

In one day, I finished John Grisham's Ford County: Stories. I then read one story, "The Casino", aloud to my husband. He cannot wait to read the entire book.
This is Grisham at his best. The characters are memorable. and the plots are so clever.
"Clever" and "memorable characters" are very important to me. When I finish a book, and I continue to think about the characters and marvel at how the plot ties everything together in the end, then I really enjoyed it. The stories are a varied lot of touching, amusing, engrossing, "clever", reading experiences.

Ford County was the September 2017 pick in my online book club, The Reading Cove.

Comprised of seven 50/60-page short stories set in Ford County, Mississippi, I found it to be a pretty quick read that, for the most part, seemed to explore fantasy-type scenarios: Fish Files, Casino, Michael's Room and Quiet Haven, 4/7, all sort of felt like "wet dream" plots.

While I found them all engaging, I was disappointed in some of the endings. A few wrapped up in pretty lackluster and anticlimactic ways. And I did think the first one, Blood Drive, was beyond dull, the characters very stereotypically (and annoyingly) Mississippian.

My favorites were Michael's Room (despite the lackluster ending) and Quiet Haven, which really left me chuckling.

I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend this compilation, since its stories are mostly shallow plot jaunts and don't really explore themes in any insightful or meaningful way; but I do think it's worth a read for the entertainment value. B-.

I'm not usually a fan of short stories, but this book is an exception because all are written by John Grisham and I have yet to read a Grisham book that I did not like. None of these stories left me hanging and each is a stand-alone with no connection to the last. I was drawn instantly into each story.
