I work for a library and this was sent in an email a while ago, thought I would share it with everyone.  I got most of them but one tripped me up.  I will post the quiz and check back later and post the answers.  Have fun!

Can you guess the real titles of these classic books?

1. Small Females

2. The Story of Double Towns

3. Haughty and Hateful

4. Red Note

5. The Noise and the Anger

6. The Aging Male and a Body of Water

7. Tear the Favorite Political State

8. The Nice Dirt

9. The Painting of a Woman

10. A Hardback Stealer

I think I got them all. "Tear the Favorite Political State" was tough until I realized what kind of "tear."

Cute quiz Karen! I believe I figured out all of them also. I'm going to print them off and see if my book club can figure them out.

Glad you like it.  Why not share your answers or guesses with everyone.   I will PM the answers to those who have posted and leave it open over the weekend for others to try their hand at it.

Cheers!

This was fun.   I'm not sure of #7, 9, and 10.....the others I knew.

7 was the one that got me, wasn't sure but my first guess turned out to be right. 8 I would suggest thinking about a movie that was made of it and 10 is a trick one our librarian put in.  I wil post the answers Monday night.

cheers

Here are the answers:

1. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

2. A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens

3. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

4. Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne

5. The Sound and the Fury by William Falkner

6. The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway

7. Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton

8. The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck

9. The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James

10. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

The last one was a trick one put in by our librarians.  We have a program through our county library called One County One book.  For the last couple of year they have selected a book to suggest all patrons read and discuss.  This was the selection for 2008.   It was a bit depressing and I didn't finish it but others have raved about it.

Have a happy St. Patrick's Day!
